Vehicle Detail
I have a 1976 CJ5 for sale. It has spent most of its life on a ranch and has probably never been driven over 35mph. It is still in all original shape, new tires and some recent tune up work. Once I got it out on the road it started blowing smoke and sometimes cuts out on me. I DO NOT know what is wrong with it but I have had it looked at and have been told it needs a ring job. I've received estimates of approximately $1,200.00 to overhaul the motor, but a DIY person could do it for a few hundred. The transmission is very sound and I can't think of any other issues or problems that I've noticed. There is no significant damage or rust on the vehicle. I believe I'm the 3rd owner so I do not know its full history. It is in very sound shape with no bondo/filler. It has been repainted, but the wheel wells still show a blue color, which leads me to believe I may have a LEVI EDITION here, but have not confirmed it. I am in the process of relocating. I don't have the time to work on it and now I don't want to store it or have to move it. It's time to sell it and let someone else enjoy it the way I had intended to. I never try to oversell any vehicle. I'm very certain it is a great deal and the new owner will be extremely pleased with the great deal they'll get on this vehicle. On Mar-28-13 at 12:26:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been asked a lot of questions about this Jeep and asked for more pictures so I'm adding to this listing. Sorry for the delay but I've been out of town. This vehicle is in pretty impeccable shape, considering the age. To my knowledge, it has always been in Texas and been primarily a ranch vehicle. No accidents that I'm aware of. No commuter miles. The odometer reads 45,058 but I am in no position to guarantee if that's original miles. Being in Texas all these years, that means no exposure to snow, sand, salt, etc. That means this car isn't all rusted out or patched up. There are 2 or 3 small spots (I think I have pictures) of what rust there is. This Jeep, in this condition, is very rare. It is at the perfect point for a full restoration or all out monster Jeep modification. I have not done a carfax report so I can't guarantee things, I'm only sharing what I've been told by the person I bought it from. And I know that he puttered around on his ranch for years, feeding his cows, hauling hay, doing chores. It currently has a top on it. I don't know if it's the original one or not. It has a few small tears in it. It has a "moon roof" to allow in light. I bought the Jeep because it looked like a stout little vehicle with a lot of promise. Does it need some attention? Yes, it's 37 years old. Is it a piece of crap that's going to take a ton of money to fix up? No, it isn't. The Jeep is worth far more than I'm asking for it. Depending on your level of expectation and your ability to accomplish that, you will have a Jeep that is worth way more than you've got into it. I'm uploading more pictures but will not be able to accomodate every little picture request that comes my way.
