Offered for sale is a beautiful 1971 Westfalia Campmobile Not only is she a walk through model but also the most desirable year for the bay window buses; first year with disk brakes and last year of upright engine. We bought it from its 2nd owner last summer who used her in San Diego as a daily driver for over 18yrs. He regularly serviced her and made sure she was up to par. A complete tune up was done after completing the restoration. This was a dry bus to begin with. No replacement sheet metal was necessary. INTERIOR: Stock interior with all original tables, seats, sink, 1.6 cubic foot ice box, fold out table for a camp stove, spice rack, 7.5 gallon water tank, clothes closet, linen closet, & cabinets in great condition. Re-upholstered rear jump seat, fold out bench seat, and bed cushion with the original rouge wheat color and in front with a beautiful off white color that gives you a beautiful classy and original feel. The curtains are all new with a correct period looking cloth, including the privacy center curtain and new curtain rods. Amazingly comfortable sleeping quarters; totally private! Brand new front and rear seat belts (Wolfsburg West) The Pop-top canvas and trim is also new (Wolfsburg West). Complete brand new baltic birch paneling installed throughout over the brand new 1" insulation foam that doesn't hold water or burn. Was used for quiet noise purposes and its thermal qualities. New blue carpeting in main floor and walk through area. New door handles, front window handles, sliding door handles, new sun visors, louvered window knobs, ash tray covers, interior lights, main floor mat, and black seat mats (All Wolfsburg West). Original child's cot and snap-in mosquito netting. New ivory cabinet T-molding, new drain cap for sink, and new hand brake rubber grip (GoWesty). EXTERIOR: Completely stripped and dismantled down to the bare body before being professionally repainted. 2 coats primer, 3 coats 2-stage paint, 3 coats clear coat. Beautiful two tone Niagra Blue (L53D) and Pastel White (L90D) over rust-free, accident free chassis . All windows were removed and new window seals added. New windshield and seal. Following seals are from Wolfsburg West; new door seals, new inner/outer window scrapers, new window felt railings, new pop-top seals. Original louvered windows on both sides were re-polished and have new seals. OE genuine chrome headlight rims. New turn signals, reverse lights, and tail lights with new light to body seals and outer light seals. .New Volkswagen script. Original bumpers with new side step rubbers (Wolfsburg West). New spare tire harness and cover (Cip1). New Hubcaps (GoWesty). Almost new white wall tires BRAKES: First year of disk brakes. The brake lines were all changed as were the cylinders and master cylinder. The handbrake cables were also replaced. The steering also has new tie rod ends, drag-link, and full alignment performed. She feels very smooth on the road (Vee Parts & Wolfsburgwest). Shocks, steering and suspension, gone through. ENGINE: Bus runs excellent with no issues or leaks. Strong running and reliable 1600cc sp. Hits 60mph on freeway without a struggle and tracks perfectly down the road. Starts right up. New Clutch cable. Complete tune up. Rebuilt carburetor. All new spark plugs, spark plug cables, oil, distributor cap, gasket seals, engine to body seal, battery, battery cables, and fuel pump seal (Vee Parts & Wolfsburgwest) UNDERSIDE: Treated, cleaned, sanded and painted with flat black acrylic enamel paint. ELECTRIC: 12V set up. Everything works properly as it should. Only had to replace a few bulbs, fuses, and front sealed beam headlight. Comes with extra sealed beam headlight. SUMMARY: After 40 plus years of existence this beauty is not only a survivor and a classic, but in superb condition, original, with all needed work completed.
