Vehicle Detail
On auction a cool vintage 1960 Ford P400 delivery truck. Not too many of these old delivery trucks left. It runs, drives, and stops. It would make a great bike / parts hauler, or stylish food truck. ID tag has it weighing 4000lbs. The The truck is located in Unadilla, GA. I purchased the truck almost a year ago with the intentions of driving it up to NYC (where I live) and using it as a vehicle to promote my newly formed business. But, Unfortunately the shop space I have now is not large enough for all of my vehicles and the truck needs a new home. I've done a considerable amount of work to the truck this year. A great head start for someone willing to finish the job. The reserve is set much below what I've invested in it already. Interesting trades may be considered. Mechanical: It has a 223 six cylinder with a three speed manual transmission. The engine has a new fuel pump, points, spark plugs, coil, brand new rebuilt Holley 1904 carburetor, new fuel / oil filters, radiator cleaned and flushed with no leaks. Engine starts and idles fine, has good oil pressure, and doesn't overheat. It appears to have had some work done on it before given the cleanliness of the engine. The only leak noticed is a small drip from the dipstick on the oil pan, easy fix. There is an old invoice in the glovebox totaling $1800 worth of work done on the engine / brakes back in May of 2005. The vehicle has not been on the road since then. It does have a small leak in the oil pan from the dipstick tube, simple fix. I have a brand new Pertronix electronic ignition for it ready to install. I rebuilt the clutch master cylinder, and the clutch seems to operate fine. The transmission goes through the gears as it should and has a new oil change. The brakes seemed to have been rebuilt at sometime, the fluid was clean and it has several new lines. It stops rather well and even considering the age, doesn't pull to any one side, grind, or growl. All of the gauges seem to be working properly. It is sitting on a brand new set of 6 ply Samson truck tires. 19.5 inch conventional wheels, not the old widow-makers. The fuel tank has been flushed, cleaned. I have only driven the truck around town a couple miles or so, it seemed fine for short trips, but I would not say its not ready for the open highway the truck is geared very low and 45 MPH seems comfortable. This will need to be towed home. Body: The body is in OK shape, the front cab is steel but the rest of the box is very thick aluminum. I had the glass removed, and the entire truck stripped down to bare metal. It was primed with PPG epoxy primer, and repainted the green color it is now. Most of the body and filler work was done to the front of the cab, not the best job, presentable from about ten feet away. Unfortunately, the paint did not cover well and the primer is showing trough in some areas. The good thing is that there isn't ten layers of paint on it (like there was) and it does have a great primer to work from. I was planning on two toning the truck down the middle and adding a business sign on the side so most of it would have been covered. The area above the back bumper has been stripped of rust and painted but it still has some holes that need attending, as does the step on the side door. The frame is rock solid and the roof is clean and doesn't leak. After the paint, all new safety glass and rubber was installed. I began re-wiring the truck, it still needs a bit of finishing, turn signals work, brake lights are new, headlights work but the trim needs replacing, I have them, just not shown in the picture. I've added a tow plug for the wiring and it has a new Class III RV hitch on the back.
