I am selling my totally original 1991 Honda CRX Si, which I purchased last summer from the original owner with fewer than 38,000 miles. While I can’t say I was searching for a CRX when I found this car, I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity of buying and driving such a beautifully preserved example of a legendary car from my youth. The car is completely original with no modifications. The car has never had any rust and still retains its original Frost White factory paint with the exception of the hood which was painted after the hood prop caused dimpling when improperly stowed. The paint is in remarkably good shape and still has a wonderful shine. I drove the car throughout the summer, enjoying every mile. Unlike so many cars from my youth, this car delivered on the memories. Even by modern standards, it is go-kart quick, comfortable, smooth and beautifully engineered. In short, a Honda that helped build the reputation. When the winter weather of the Northeast broke, I could not bear to drive the car on Pennsylvania’s salt-encrusted roads. Although I bought it to enjoy, I didn’t want to turn such a well-preserved icon—now almost twenty-five years old-- into another used-up and rusted CRX. So I put it away for the winter where it has rested for the past six months. Although garaged throughout its life by its eighty year-old original owner, the car responded beautifully to a thorough cleaning and going over when I purchased it. This car has never been restored and is remarkably original and complete, showing only minimal wear. All original equipment and accessories are with the car, including owner’s and service manuals, factory workshop manual, as well as unused jack, spare and toolkit. The exterior is as it left the factory, down to its red-and-grey pinstripe. The interior, like the exterior, is all original, including the seats, carpets, headliner and radio. The engine and suspension have had absolutely no modifications. The car currently has 39,067 original miles and needs absolutely nothing in terms of mechanical or cosmetic attention. I have all service records from the original sales invoice and window sticker to the most recent oil change performed in 2012. This is a very pleasurable car to drive and a beautiful example of the final-year CRX. All switches, gauges and systems function properly and as designed, including the air conditioning and radio. Whenever replacement parts were necessary, only original Honda were used. This car has always been used in moderate climates and has been properly stored when not used. I have been collecting cars for over twenty-five years and keep every car I own in the best condition possible. I have only collected original cars that represent the manufacturer’s efforts. I feel that this is truly among the best original CRXs left. Although not the most valuable car out there, like the original owner I have treated this car with the care and respect it deserves.
