1997 VW Jetta TDI ,5 speed Manual, Sunroof , Matching Wheels/Rims/Tires, Ipod/MP3 Ready Radio, 45-50MPG Thanks for looking! I'm selling it because I found a TDI wagon, otherwise I'd keep it. HISTORY: I bought this TDI 2 years ago from a VW body shop in Chicago. All they do is flip vw's. This vehicle had hit a deer and had front end body work replaced. No airbags deployed, no frame damage, they did a nice job. The title is a clean Micigan title--NOT A SALVAGE TITLE--EBAY forces a seller to disclose original title status-- On the way home from Chicago to Detroit this car got every bit of 50 MPG The Good: Starts fine, no smoke, shifts fine, turbo is strong, as a matter of fact this engine runs stronger than the TDI wagon I just bought. The body and paint are respectable, there are some rust spots in the photo, there is one small crease ding, but the car looks good and is respectable. Up close you'll see various rock chips and scratches for a car of this age and mileage. More than one person has come up to me and said " Hey man nice TDI"... I'd say its a 7.5 out of 10 The interior has been wiped down and vaccummed; there are some scratches and coffee stains, but its not disprespectful. I'd say its a 7 out of 10 Also has a 1-17/8 trailer hitch and working 4prong lights, a rare combination. I towed my dirtbike once in a while. Nothing heavy. The hitch and lights were on the car when I bought it. The front wheel bearings have been replaced, as well as the oil pan and gasket(the pan wasnt damaged its cheaper to do the whole things as a kit). The front end is solid and turns tight going on to the highway. Remember, this car was designed for the Autobahn. The Not so Good: There is a small fuel leak at the pump. If you are familiar with TDI's this can happen when the fuel pump seals go. Mechanically the pump works fine; the car runs great. You'll need to get the pump rebuilt(175 bucks) and reinstalled(200bucks). The A/c needs charged The trunk lock works but sticks sometimes Tires and brakes are decent I would say 75%?? Many people have asked about the timing belt, I never touched it, the last documented timing belt change was at approx 55k miles(see car fax). Just had a coolant leak fixed Otherwise I need to sell it. The engine alone is worth 1500 bucks!! Sold as is where is with no warranties implied whatsoever.
