The full text from the vehicles history follows:1966 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster Serial # 194676S117879 For Sale $115,000. This 1966 Corvette Roadster comes with a copy of the original factory order sheet including receipts since 1969. The car was originally purchased in Ohio, (thus more desirable without A.I.R.), and moved to California soon after by 1969, to a rust free climate. This Corvette comes with extensive documentation assembled in a binder for the new owner that includes receipts since since its move to (California with its original owner of 32 years, a physician. Including all receipts and photo documentation of its total restoration completed just 5 years and only 4,000 miles ago by the second owner, a member of the Schilling Spice family. Nassau Blue, one of the most striking and certainly most desirable colors of all, this car comes with 5 knockoff wheels, a single soft top with no extra holes in the deck lid for a hardtop. A body and paint restored by Chris Springer, frame and suspension done by Dave Herlinger, engine rebuilt by John at Reggie Jackson's, and detailed by Scott Jones, this Corvette was restored by the best team in the business! The 350 HP dyno'd L79 motor, with the best ratio factory 3:3b posi rear end, provides a car that is a joy to drive while impressing all those you may pass on the road. All matching numbers (No restamps!) drivetrain, supports the claim that this car can impress NCRS, (National Corvette Restorers Society), or Bloomington Gold judges should the new owner opt to show the car. With an old enough restoration that doesn't give the impression the car can't be touched, but can be driven, and a young enough restoration, by the most talented professionals in the business, that gives you the confidence that you can show the car on the concours circuit knowing you'll come home with your hands full of awards, this car is the perfect investment as an asset to your automotive collection. This may well be one of the best 1966 Corvettes in the world! It not only retains the original drivetrain components but most of the date coded accessories are restored originals, fresh and ready for another life of 40+ years! A lot of Corvettes are claimed to be "numbers matching", but only because a good restorer "restored them that way". Over 40 years it is simply not reasonable to expect that a car through accidents, age. mistakes, etc, can retain the original drivetrain. Between 1966 - 1980 it was common for local machine shops to "deck the block" during the engine rebuilding process thereby insuring a loss of 'The Holy Grail" the engine born on date, the suffix code and broach marks. This car luckily escaped the engine rebuild process as its extensive receipts suggest by a long term original owner that had it professionally maintained for so long. (As did the rest of the drivetrain components.) Thus making this car eligible for the highest Corvette judging in the country . Bloomington Gold. It was born a 350 HP motor, the highest horse power small block available through the factory for a 1966 Corvette. The factory provided an aluminum intake, valve covers, and Holley carb. with a hi performance hydraulic camshaft, making this car fun to drive and 200 lbs lighter than a big block. This car underwent a full frame off. cosmetic and mechanical restoration 5 years ago and only 4.000 miles since. Extensive documentation provided with the car include receipts and photos documenting -$130,000. worth of work by the best restorers in the country. Just 5 years later this same restoration would cost even more today. In 2006 at the Monterey Sports Car auction a 1966 Corvette Roadster, 300 HP small block, base smog engine without the smog, green/green, with a cosmetic restoration by Chris Springer 12 years ago went for $110,000. 41 years ago Dr Casto ordered this car for his soon to be son-in-law upon his graduation from medical school. Dr Jacobson, the new husband and MD, with his wife, moved to California in 1969. He ended up in practice on Welch Road at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. Dr Jacobson put about 120,000 miles on the car during his 32 years of ownership, a man that took great care of his autos, as the records reflect. Andy Schilling had been looking extensively for a Corvette, holding out preferably for an original owner Corvette, when he found this car in 1998. only 10 miles from his residence! It was under Andy 's care that the restoration project was undertook never hesitating, desiring only the best restoration that could be produced Andy would love to see this car get Bloomington Gold or NCRS Top Right or Duntov under the next owner. however, upon seeing this car in person, you don't need judges to know it's top caliber!
