Vehicle Detail

Lancia 1964 Flaminia Pininfarina coupeRare Red and Tan, High Performance 2.8 Litre, V6, Triple Carb, 4 Speed Transmission, 43,935 mi, Alloy Hood and Trunk, California Title all number matching factory car ! This Flaminia was one of the most exclusive and prestigious vehicles of the 1960’s; often the choice of the rich and famous, such as actor Marcello Mastrioiani, Sophia Lauren, Brigitte Bardot, and Audrey Hepburn (who drove her dark blue Flaminia from 1967 – 1975 while living in Switzerland). This model Lancia was also used by Mr. Pininfarina himself, and was said to be his favorite all time car. It was also a favorite, and owned by Ferrari’s race team’s top drivers. Ernest Hemmingway also owned one, as well as Prince Aly Cahn (who had a fatal accident in his Flaminia). The Lancia Flaminia was designed by Pininfarina, ‘the Godfather of automotive design’, and was coach built. This model is listed as number 6 of the greatest 20 designs of Pininfarina. Included in that list are: The Cisitalia 202, Ferrari’s 212 Inter, Lancia’s Aurelia Spyder, Ferrari’s 250 California, Lancia’s Flaminia Coupe, Ferrari’s 250 Lusso, Ferrari’s 365 Daytona etc… If you look at the photobucket attachment of pics I have included, you can see Mr. Pininfarnia driving his Flaminia, Audrey Hepburn's registration, Brigitte Bardot and her Lancia, and a couple of Ferrari team drivers and their Lancia Flaminia's.The Flaminia is named after the road in Italy leading from Rome to Rimini. There were 1037 of these 2.8 versions made by Lancia, not to be confused by the 2.5 single carb cars, the 2.8 high performance are the rare and desirable ones. I found three Lancia 2.8 liter coupes currently for sale. Two are in need restoration for $16,000 and $17,000 respectively, and one that has been restored at Veloce Classic and Sports Ltd in London asking $54,000. N.A.D.A. currently lists the Lancia 2.8 liter coupe Pininfarnia at an average of $22,900 and retail at $62,900.This is a nice example, which I would classify as a good quality driver. I am selling it because I don’t have any time to drive it; it sits in my garage alongside my Mercedes convertible and is collecting dust. The body is sold and straight, and the panels fit well; I would welcome anyone to run a magnet anywhere over the body, with the exception of the hood and trunk (because they are alloy). The paint job was a bare metal re-spray; and the paint is of decent quality. There are no major rust problems. The fuel pump is new. The starter motor and alternator were both recently rebuilt. The battery is new. The carbs are clean as a whistle, but I also have two original rebuild kits if you ever need them. The tires are Michelins and are so-so. The undercarriage still has protective coat all over, with the exception of the gas tank, which was taken out this year and totally cleaned; the undercoat on the gas tank was not restored. The car starts and runs strong from the gas tank. The engine has good and even compression across the cylinders and the car has only traveled 43,000 original miles / 61,387 KM . The clutch and the transmission were fine when it was last parked. I have all the original keys. The headliner is in good shape, and the car was not smoked in. There are no leaks in the engine. There are some dents in the wheel covers and there is a dent in the passenger side of the front grill. There is a dent in left top of the front fender. There are dents and dings in the chrome molding of the driver’s side rocker panel. Some of the chrome trim has been scratched with a buffing wheel. The passanger side body rail edge was bent upwards by driving over a curb; it could be bent back down, but I have not done that. The reflective silver surface of the rearview mirror is aged. The rear passenger tail lens is cracked. The spare tire in the trunk is worn. A hose needs to be replaced from the radiator to the butterfly fitting on the block. The butterfly fitting has been newly replaced. There is a small leak in the radiator, which has not been addressed. Welded metal was used to fix the battery tray. The two front seats are showing their age, there were some small seam separations that were repaired. The door panel arm rests need gluing down. There is a stain on the driver’s side door in front of the window crank. Front and rear bumpers were silver coated and do not have the original chrome plating. The front and rear disk breaks need to be bled; there is not much break pedal right now. This will make an excellent driving and rare car for a lucky someone. There are currently no back taxes owed to re plate here in California. I will require a Paypal deposit of $1000 within 24 hours of the end of auction. If I do not receive this deposit I reserve the right to re-list the car for sale. The balance is to be paid by bank wire or cash in person within 7 days of the end of the auction. I live on my ranch, approximately 45 min. East of Bakersfield, California. If you need more time than 7 days to organize the shipping part that is ok. If you have any questions, please ask them before bidding. If you have any question you can also reach me at: 661-972-3833 between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm PST. Thank you and God bless.
