Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1961 Austin Healey 3000 BT7. This car has passed through several owners in a dis-assembled state but with the suspension still on so it still rolls. The man I bought it from was going to put in a Chevy straight 6 engine hooked up to a automatic transmission so his wife could drive it. He removed the clutch pedal but it`s still with the car and installed a brand X brake master cylinder with a reservoir for the brake fluid as part of the cylinder. No other modifications were done to the chassis. I have a clear Oregon title in my name CHASSIS This Healey has been hit in the front sometime in the past and repaired but not to a high standard. It needs a new front radiator cross brace and the X brace that goes in front of the radiator. These parts only cost about $166 from Moss Motors. The last owner repaired the RF frame rail section from the motor mount to the front where it bolts to the shroud but it` not a perfect job. The chassis is in great shape other than the above mentioned area. The trunk floor has been cut out in preparation for a new floor but it has not been done yet and the new floor is not with the car. There is 2 small rust holes in the LH foot well area about the size of a nickel and 1 hole the same size on the RH foot well. All the rest of the floors are original and very solid. The RH rocker panel needs no repair and the LH rocker panel only needs a patch on the end of the panel in the dog leg area. BODY The worst part of the body is the front shroud as it was made from 2 shrouds and joined about 2/3rds back in the bonnet opening. It`s not a very good job and can be improved on with a little bit of work. The front of the shroud also needs a bit of work to improve it. The grille and grille top are in good condition. The RF fender was poorly repaired by welding parts of 2 fenders together so I put a fender with the car from my collection of parts that doesn`t need much to be nice. The LF fender is rust free and still needs a little work in the head light area. Both doors are rust and dent free. The bonnet is in very good condition, just needing minor repair. The RR fender is good but needs a patch in the dog leg area and the LR fender is good and doesn`t need patching. The rear shroud has some dents below the boot lid opening and the boot lid needs a couple of dents fixed and there a couple of cracks, one on each side. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION The engine is the original 29D motor that came with the car. I was told it had been rebuilt sometime in the past but I have no paper work to prove it, it has been painted red. I have not tried to start the motor but is does turn so it`s not stuck. The rear carburetor is missing the float bowl and I`m not sure if all the linkage is with the car. The transmission has overdrive and the gears shift easy but I did not open it up. The transmission cover is rust free. SUSPENSION The previous owner did some work on the front and rear including new wheel bearings in the front, turned the rotors, rebuilt the calipers and installed new brake pads. The front hubs are the rare and sought after factory disc wheel/disc brake hubs that are sought after by vintage racers to put on bolt on Minilite wheels and these hubs sell for around $400 a pair. The rear drums have been turned but the brake shoes are still in a box so there are NO BRAKES on the car. The emergency brake handle is not installed either. I will put a piece of 4” by 4” wood in the car for use to put in front of wheel to stop it when loading the car on a trailer. The wheels are GM pattern with new tires mounted but they are bias ply and the tires are old. A new set of brake and clutch lines will be needed for the car. INTERIOR The gauges are a matched set with nice faces but the temperature line has been cut. There are no heater controls and the turn signal and horn unit is missing but they are available new. The front seats are not correct for a big Healey and I`m not sure what they fit. There was only 1 rear seat pan and it is good, I put one of mine with the car but it has rust holes and this can be fixed with fiberglass cloth. I also included a back rest as it was also missing. It has a good top frame and a solid front top with the alloy retaining rail. The side curtains have all the brackets but need new plexiglass. The metal tops of the rear ¼ panels are with the car but there are no other upholstery panels with the car. There are probably some parts missing from being moved around over the past 20 plus years. SOLD AS IS WITH NO IMPLIED WARRANTY OF ANY KIND NO RESERVE NO RESERVE On Feb-10-13 at 12:32:55 PST, seller added the following information:I forgot to mention that this car was loosely assembled with just a few bolts on each part such as fenders, motor mounts, etc. to make it easier to transport.
