For sale is 1998 Volkswagen Passat 4-door sedan with 68,700 miles, the color is light blue. The car has all standard Passat GLS features plus automatic (tiptronic) transmission, power windows and locks, cruise control, some wood trimming, sunroof, and heated seats and mirrors. I'm the original owner of the car. The Volkswagen Passat passed Virginia inspection last fall. Please note that VA registration for the car expires on January 31 2013. Nobody in our family smokes, and we never had any accidents with this car. Car condition: The car starts and drives fine. Visually the exterior looks very good, the interior is ok. The car has very low mileage. The acceleration is so so for 4-cylinder car (it was this way from the beginning). The AC and radio/cassette player work. Here is an assessment of what doesn't work or broken: Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear is usually hard. It also happens sometime when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Releasing the accelerator pedal a bit just before it shifts makes it smoother. Fixing this problem may require expensive service. Heating doesn't work for driver's seat (it does work for passenger's seat) Very minor fluid leaks, that were easier for us to "fix" by adding more fluid during oil change, than actually fixing them. Front right tire slowly leaks air. Broken lower engine shield (belly pan). Door rubber seal has come off. We removed the rubber from three doors, and left it only on the front right door (you can see it on the pictures). The automatic lock on the rear left door does not work. My mechanic has indicated that "Master cylinder reservoir cracked on top" Small dings on the rear bumper. The back seat has a stain that you can see on the pictures.
