Vehicle Detail
1975 Chevrolet Vega GT Hatchback. A true blue and yellow plate original California car. Has a rebuilt pre 2000 Vortec V6 engine 262 cubic inch motor with aprroximately 20,000 miles. Odometer was set when engine was put in. Has a 700R automatic transmission with a B&M shifter. I headers with h pipe and glass pack mufflers. 3:73 gears with posi-traction on a 10 bolt rear end along with a mild cam. Headliner has a couple of cracks but generally decent. Just had dome light assembly replaced and fixed. Works on driver's door and dash. Needs reupholstering of seats front and back. Front seats have seat covers. Carpeting is pretty much shot. Dash is nice with no cracks. Car shifts fine. The big issue, a bolt came loose and needs new oil pan. It did not throw a rod. There is no engine knock and car never overheated. Has aftermarket gauges underneath the dash for oil, temp, and battery. All factory gauges work except for a coolant light on the dash that stays on. Had a aftermarket am/fm 8 track player installed a few days ago with Alpine speakers.. Has brand new tires all the way around. Everything works, horn, lights, wipers signals. Has had new horn installed. New flywheel and complete brake system. Disc in the front, drums in the rear. Car was converted to disc brakes in the front even though it wasn't offered until 1976. New master cylinder as well. New air support shocks for the hatch. Car has solid body. Paint was thin on car so I sanded it down and treated it. No actually rot on car. there is a small rust spot around the seal of the hatchback but it is pretty minor. New seals are on order for the doors and hatch and will come with the car. Do have new exhaust on the car too.. Car does have dings but overall is very straight. Good bumpers too.. Currently registered until December 2013. No smog ever.. It does have a GT steering wheel. Unsure of proof or not if it is an actually GT.
On Nov-27-12 at 19:57:02 PST, seller added the following information: So just to re-iterate. a bolt came thru the right front side of the oil pan. Car never overheated and can not start it now because of no oil. There is no sign of a rod coming through the engine block. I have not had it physically checked by a mechanic because I am out of tows and when I explained it to him he said that sounds like something came loose. Anyway the car is being sold as is where is obviously as the majority of cars on Ebay are. I am literally into this car close to $5000 dollars. Also I just had a new Moroso crankshaft pulley put on to adjust the tension on the fan belt that was coming off. The car definitely has a lot cool guy stuff on it and even if you parted it out you have a little gold mine. The original Vega wheels are even worth something. On Nov-28-12 at 18:16:08 PST, seller added the following information: The engine for those not familiar is a 4.3 liter motor commonly found in Chevy S-10 pick ups. Rated as a very durable motor. Also I wanted to state I also added a larger clip on mirror for the rear view mirror. Makes a world of difference for visibility purposes. On Nov-29-12 at 14:47:27 PST, seller added the following information: Also forgot to mention I have a tachometer that comes with the car that has a shift light on it. Perfect place is if you remove the ashtray it can mount right there. I lost the mounting bracket that came with it, but I am sure you can find something to mount it with.On Nov-29-12 at 16:32:06 PST, seller added the following information: Here is a short video of me starting the car for a minute. It has a very little oil in it. Some small amount stays in the reserve but I just wanted to started it up for second to show everyone that it does run.0:52engine movie 001
