It's a beautiful example of a very special car, having been well preserved to begin with, and having just been through a complete reconditioning to restore everything to like-new status, at a total cost of $13,000 in parts and labor. It drives like a brand new car. I have owned 11 different 240's, and have worked on countless more. This is my favorite. This car is being sold by the second owner, a friend of mine. The first owner before her cared for it for 19 years, and sold it to my friend last year, who bought it for her son. In her words, "I lovingly restored my high school dream car for a son who wants a beach beater SUV like all his surfer friends. He's made a valiant effort not to destroy anything, but every time I see a scratch or something gets broken (I just had a second set of front shocks and struts put on it), my heart sinks and, I feel compelled to get it immediately repaired." She is selling the car to preserve its uniquely exquisite condition. Mechanicals: Driving this car is experiencing what they were like when brand new. It starts up immediately, and idles so smoothly you have to strain to feel any vibration at all. It's perfectly quiet. When it shifts into gear there are no clunks or movements. The transmission is like new; the gears shift without any sign of wear, including the overdrive functioning flawlessly. Acceleration is just as it was brand new. All the seals, fluids, electrical, and other mechanicals have been gone through in detail to restore this beautiful tank to its original condition. The suspension is excellent: smooth with no sounds. Interior and Cosmetics: The road noise is quiet inside the car, and all the door seals are in new condition. The window rubber likewise is excellent. The car has never been in an accident. The paint is brand new. The wheels have been reconditioned. The tires are new. The interior is immaculate, with the rare black leather seats having been preserved by custom lamb's wool covers. The very rare front seat armrest with cupholders is included. The dash is covered with a form-fitted cap as well as a carpet overlay made for the car. Even the heater/air conditioner vents rotate smoothly, having been lubricated carefully. Details have been carefully attended, such as the grab handle caps and visor clips being new. The sound system is amazing, with iPod input and no expense spared. A car alarm with keyless entry has been installed. The Carfax report only begins to tell the story, with an unbelievable Carfax score of 58 as of last check. These 240's can easily go for several hundred thousand miles, but this one has only just begun at 149K.
