1949 Mercury Two-Door Coupe...James Dean Rebel Rouser. Original color Black. Has a 1960's paint job of pink & pearl. Has been lowered back in the 60's by heating up front coil springs with lowering blocks. Has the 255 c. i. original flathead engine. Three on the tree stick shift with overdrive. The car is completely original except generator replaced with alternator. Has electronic ignition and the car was completely rewired in 2005. The engine has not been started for last 3 years. The car has been driven and the engine runs great with that flathead grumble, but needs a front end alignment as it pulls to the right. It's had 2 new waterpumps amongst other components replaced back in 2005. I bought it in 2002 in Kansas. The car can be fixed (ignition), and driven as is...or can be completely restored. I planned to have a ground-up restoration done, but have went through layoffs in my job which has caused me to pass this great dream onto someone else. I planned on having the flathead engine completely rebuilt with all new suspension. I planned on painting it a black ice with gloss red wheels, and replacing the upholstery with black tuck n' roll leather. It is a perfect Forty-Niner to make as you would want. There is some rust in the trunk, but the floor pans are very solid as is the rest of the car. It just needs money poured into it to return it to its former glory.
