Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a super 1971 Ford Pickup Sport Custom PROJECT. I bought this truck to build with my 16 year old son as a family project in July of 2011. We bought it at an estate sale from the original family that had used it on a farm. When the owner passed away all items he owned were auctioned off. This truck drove and ran like a champ, with no issues at all. We drove it for a week, parked it as you see it and dismantled the front clip to remove the motor and transmission so we could have them built. This would have been the 14th Ford that I have completely restored from the ground up and I am amazed at how clean it is even as I disassembled it. We spent $4400.00 at the auction to buy the truck which was about 1/2 of what I would have paid for one in this condition. We went to the auction with $8,000.00 in hand. We removed the front clip because we were going to install a mustang II front end with rack and pinion steering and disc brakes. The truck comes with drum all around for brakes. It has no power steering or A/C but that is what we wanted. Our plan was to slam the truck onto airbags in the front and notch the rear frame above the axle and get 4 inches of drop in the front and five inches in the rear. This truck sits one inch higher in the rear for towing capabilities. We spent $6500.00 on the motor and we will keep it for our next project in the future. The truck is being sold as is, with no motor or transmission and the front clip disassembled. It will need to be loaded and taken to its new home. I have had way to many set backs in the business world to finish the project and my son has lost interest. My loss will be your gain if you are looking for a great foundation to start from. Every piece of body metal is here and every nut and bolt. I always remove every bolt and replace with either grade 8 or Stainless hardware. The truck has had a pretty thorough restoration that is maybe 5 years old. The paint is about a 5 on a scale of 10 but my paint jobs are world class in appearance so 5 is good in most worlds. There is no rust that was visible except in the welll behind the front fender but it is so small it will take a second to cut and replace or lead fill as I do. I do no Bondo only lead repairs and fills.
