I recommend an FE 390 based stroker motor with Edelbrock heads, a top loader 4 speed and a 4.30 rear end. Lots of bars. This is a great starting point for an open road race car, or an open track car that is not another Mustang. Stand out from crowd! The suspension can be set up just like a Mustang, with the lowered control arm and poly bushings. Suggest Open Tracker roller upper arms and perches, springs to suit your engine choice, and go get to gettin'. Includes a new 1 inch front sway bar, and drive shaft, plus a drive shaft safety loop! One more note. The drivers front wheel has been changed. It doesn't really matter, right? You are going to put some cool wheels on it. Drivers front has a stock steel wheel.
