Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a RARE classic-a beautiful vintage 1969 Jaguar XKE Coupe with low miles and runs like a top. I'm actually selling this car for my uncle who is located in Denton, TX (DFW suburb) and vehicle is available there for inspection over the next week for potential buyers. Car is listed locally as well and auction may be pulled if sale is completed before the end of the auction or an acceptable offer is put forth. The auction will be in the no reserve format so the winning bid will be the buyer of the vehicle. This is an amazing ride that has been meticulously maintained by my uncle, who is a retired pilot. Reason I tell you this is that now you can understand the level of care afforded to the Jag. Here is a brief description from my uncle: This is a 1969 Jaguar XKE Coupe. They came with a 4.2 Liter in line six engine, and this has a non-original with three SU carbs, probably from a mid to late-70s Jaguar XJ. So, the numbers are not matching, and I do not have the identification plate. The drive train is strong, the frame is straight and rigid, the body is nearly rust free. The exceptions are a couple spots beneath the fuel filter bowl and beneath the battery. The red paint has become separated from the body in a few areas, so there's some cracking, and in one of these places there is a spot of rust visible. The fuel tank/spare tire well may have some residual corrosion due to the old tank rusting out, but it does not appear to be thru. Doors and hatch are close to being aligned. One point of the hatch touches the body, causing some paint chipping. The interior is in good to excellent shape. Seat covers are like new, headliner may be original, but looks good. The luggage area is missing a few chrome and rubber trim pieces and the luggage 'divider'. Trim inside the hatch needs re-gluing. All gauges and exterior lights work. The speedo, though working, searches back and forth for the speed, and needs repair. All accessories will need your attention, including the factory A/C and anything having an electric motor. For instance, I had to clean a couple connectors to get the radiator cooling fans to start running. I have owned the car since 1996. I had a new clutch installed a couple years later. Around 2000 I stored it, mostly in the garage, awaiting the installation of a new fuel tank, which I did about a year ago. Since then I had five new tires installed, replaced (with new) the plugs, wires, coil, and distributor, a Pertronix. Also added a CoolCat oil filter spin on adapter. Then I put in a new clutch master cylinder. The cold start cable needs the be anchored beneath the dashboard. It's a sweet ride, but though I don't need to, I am ready to part with one of the toys. Feel free to contact me with a contact phone # for any questions regarding the car. Once again, vehicle is located in Denton, TX and will be available for inspection for the next week unless it sells in the meantime. Thanks for looking! On Jan-12-13 at 18:13:34 PST, seller added the following information: Wanted to add a little more info and pics based on questions that have been asked. Here are the responses from Chuck, the owner: Hi, John, here are the pics. Goods news, I found the spare tyre clamp. Other news, the seats are vinyl. I took a look at installing the rubber bead in the hatch glass gasket. It is very tight, and I couldn't even get it started. I don't believe there's any chance a truck ride of any length or severity will harm that installation, so if I can't get the job done here in the next few days, I'll let you install it at your end. Both doors have residue a couple inches square max from a car cover I unfortunately had tied down by wrapping a cord around the car(Texas is windy at times). I have never waxed this car(I know) and suspect both spots could be rubbed out if you decide to delay repainting. The chrome looks like it has pits thru to metal, and some of the resultant rust can be wiped off. That's it for now. Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks for your interest! Dear the-gear-recycler, Is the car winterized? Air conditioner working? Heater work? Wipers work? Exhaust condition? Transmission orginal? Winterized? Not specifically this year, but I can throw in a gallon of antifreeze for you. Air conditioner worked fine when I first bought it, it developed a leak soon after, and hasn't been used since, so needs servicing. I never used the heater, so don't know if it works. Wipers? Like I say in the verbiage, all accessories will need attention. If one doesn't work, it may just need a cleaning of contacts. As for the wipers, they don't turn on, so they might need the motor repaired or simply contact cleaning. If I don't sell the car, I plan on working on all such items one by one. Exhaust sounds great, I haven't looked at it closely. Transmission? The car has been restored and or major work done it(i.e. different engine, probably paint color change), so don't know if the tranny is original. But it seems to be operating fine.
