Vehicle Detail

1970 ford torino cobra . This is a very nice #2 driver, numbers matching, N code 360 hp 429 4v engine , Big spline four speed toploader transmission. staggered rear shocks, 31 spline 9 inch Nodular 3.50 ratio traction-lock rear end. This car is a no-nonsense muscle car with very little frills. it has manual steering, manual brakes and manual transmission. However it drives and stops very well. straight solid and sure footed. the front end components are all newer and tight. I have driven this cross state to many car shows, and it has been on the Hot Rod Power Tour. That being said, it is a car that shows well, and has won many trophys, but it can be driven, and has the stone chips to prove it. The engine was rebuilt at the time of restoration, and has approx 10k miles on it. it runs very well. it does have a non-stock cam that is a little larger than stock. also has roller rockers and an Edlebrock intake and a Holly carb, but they are treated to look like factory pieces. I have the original carb, and intake manifold that you can have. these are the only original extra parts I have that go with the car. Transmission and clutch shifts nice. New magnaflow stainless mufflers in the stock style exhaust. some of my pictures show the old flowmasters. The radiator has been replaced with a custom four core unit that never overheats. factory fan shroud is intact. This Torino cobra was special ordered when new , and the buyer only wanted three options, am radio, 3.50 gear and trac-lock rear end. the louvers, shaker (original, not repro), sport mirrors, and factory ribbon tach has been added. The Marti report shows four speed close ratio trans, and white letter tires as options, but those items are standard for a cobra, not sure why its on there. This car was restored approximately 15-20 years ago. There is no rust evident anywhere. original color resprayed in base/clear. some minor metal work was performed, including passenger side floor. rear tail panel and battery apron . original quarters and cowl are solid. All trim and chrome and glass is very nice. The grill is cracked where it mounts to the center support, but has been for years, and its not visible. there are a few chips in the hood, and it could use a repaint if you were fussy. original 14x7 wheels and polished center caps, with like-new 245/60/14 tires. Parking brake works well, and the shifter does have the reverse lock out rod installed. The black bench seat interior is in excellent condition. all gauges work as they should. However, the radio has good days and bad days and works when it wants. I didnt intend to sell this car. When i bought it, it was to be my 'forever' car. Another automotive opportunity has presented itself, and I dont want to let it pass by. My reserve is fair, the cost to restore a Torino to this level is enormous. since it is a 43 year old car, the torino is sold as is. I am not going to be responsible for a missed shift on your first test drive. But if you wanted to, the car could be driven home, it is that well built and reliable. Winning bidder must pay $500 non refundable deposit via paypal immediatly. and the car will need to be completely paid for within 14 days. I can hold it for transport a little longer than that if need be. you can call me at 231-578-5071 if you need to discuss your purchase. trades considered for a very clean 1969-1970 mach 1 the car is advertised on other sites as well, i may end the auction early if it sells elsewhere. thanks On Jan-07-13 at 09:23:57 PST, seller added the following information: sorry no tradesOn Jan-08-13 at 16:45:02 PST, seller added the following information:On Jan-10-13 at 18:08:56 PST, seller added the following information:my friends tell me i am too critical of my car. and upon re-reading my description, i dont sound very excited about it. well, It is hard for me to sell this, and it was tough to write. But really its a great car that needs nothing, its a multiple show winner, and i doubt you will find a nicer one for this kind of money. did i mention it pulls like a freight train? happy bidding.
