Vehicle Detail
Up for consideration is my '79 AMC Pacer. This little car has been with me for over 5 years and it has been a joy driving this little coupe. The car is extremely clean inside and out, and I have always garaged it. The car is original, except for the headliner and the carpet, which were replaced by the prior owner in early 2007. The car has 41,300 miles on it and I drive it to work every now and then. The car is definitely a head turner and folks pull out their cell phones and take photos of the car constantly. If you are the purchaser, you will have to get used to people asking you about this Pacer whenever you drive it. For its age, it truly looks amazing. Everything works on the car except the analog clock. The AM/FM radio sounds great for the era in which it was built. The glass on the car is perfect as well is the chrome on the roofline, and on the bumpers. There is no rust or pitting anywhere on the chrome and it really looks superb. The body of the car has no dents or abrasions, but does have a few scratches by the drivers door. The paint that is on this 34 year old car is original. It still has a beautiful shine and luster and sparkles nicely in the sun. There is a "blemish" on the tailgate and the previous owner couldn't explain the paint impurity or imperfection to me when I purchased the car. I tried to show it the best I could in the photos of the tailgate as well as the minor scratches on the drivers door. Please look carefully. The passenger side rear wheelcover now has a crack in it due to an over zealous Discount Tire employee rushing to put the wheelcover back on after I placed new tires on the vehicle. The air conditioning works great and does a wonderful job cooling down the car in the HOT Houston sun. The plastic pieces by the rear side windows are in great shape and have no cracks and the upholstery has no rips, tears, or cuts. The dashboard is free of any cracks and looks new.....to this day. All interior/exterior lighting works and all lights illuminate brightly. I am no mechanic and don't profess to be, but this AMC is really a solid car. Is it perfect? NO. The car sometimes "protests" when placed in reverse. It does this when it hasn't been driven for a while. The car does not shimmy at any speed and this car GOES!! The car is straight and really holds the road well. The Pacer is quiet inside and speedometer is spot on accurate. I have tried my best to describe this vehicle to the best of my ability. Please view the photos carefully and ask the questions you need to. I hope that whoever purchases this car, maintains it and respects it. I know this car that will not appeal to everyone.......but this car is a survivor that runs great and deserves a good home!! This car comes with the original owners manual and factory AMC brochure detailing all of American Motors offerings for 1979. Originally purchased in Norman Oklahoma in 1979. Shipping will solely be the responsibility of the buyer. I will assist in anyway possible, but I will not arrange or contact shipping companies for you. I will pick you up at either Houston airport if you decide to fly in and drive it home.
