Vehicle Detail
This car is awesome. It has been lovingly treated as a gift for the wife, but import to Montreal is too costly to be worth it, and to sit is really the worst thing for a car. Driven it to and from Montreal weekly. Installed and functioning Greasecar setup which functions even in the Vermont cold, due to coolant being routed through the 15 gallon WVO tank in the trunk. Also installed is a flash-heater installed mainly because it was around. Also installed just last week is a set of snow-tires (new in rear, pretty new in front). I would have gotten more work done then, but the mechanics insisted it needed nothing, and were quite impressed with the condition. It also comes with four extra Mercedes rims and four fair-weather tires. This car starts up the first time, aided in the winter by an oil-pan heater, and idles and shifts nicely. The windows are manual, meaning no worries with vacuum relays. The leather seats are in amazing shape (front seat still has spring, unlike most). Even the clock in the dashboard works. Though, the odometer doesn't. It has an oil under-coat to protect from road-salt. There are few rust-spots, nothing structural, and the suspension is a-ok. The rear axle was recently replaced, so the transmission fluid is pretty new as well. The Extras: Greasecar setup installed with flash heater $1,295 4 summer tires + 3 rims $600 New snow-tires $320 Brand new battery $130 Oil pan heater $70 Good body: Priceless And I'll throw in five gallons of waste vegetable oil, free. A video of starting and running: http://youtu.be/wCB7upnIi5Q Here's the bad, what I did to it, and the situation: I bought this car two weeks ago from a man who loves Mercedes and meticulous cares for this (his wife's) and his own, a 300TD. The car was cherry, a dream to drive. Then, from a stop I tapped a Camry, scratched their paint, and stove in this grill enough to push the air-conditioner and radiator back 1.5 inches. It's losing coolant and lost power steering, but I drove it home without it overheating, meaning a possible crack rather than full-blown fracture. The light-covers are busted but light-bulbs intact, and it still starts and idles like nothing is wrong. Towing is the safest method of delivery. What you are buying is a vehicle needing $600 in parts and repairs or so, and body-work. If you can do these repairs, you will be getting a bargain. I simply cannot afford to fix it, but am only selling it reluctantly, because this car is really a rare find in terms of condition. Someone with a couple spare parts and bodywork experience could repair the damage. This car could be sold for scrap and profitably, but I think I'd cry to see this vehicle chopped. If you have no great love of Mercedes, just don't tell me you're doing it. If you don't mind looking a little banged-up, this car could be fixed for even less, and the money saved running WVO could pay the car and its repairs off in pure fuel savings. Again, this car is awesome. Its engine is often called "the best diesel engine ever made." This is a well-made specimen of a reliable, sturdy luxury car. It is yin and yang, a well-cared for car with a busted-up front end. This is the perfect car for myself in a couple years, and hopefully, for you. Happy bidding! On Jan-10-13 at 13:15:28 PST, seller added the following information: There's also a trailer-hitch attached.
