Normal 0 0 1 340 1941 16 3 2383 11.1539 0 0 0 Up for auction is a barn fresh 1934 Hupmobile 417-W Series Sedan. This vehicle is just out of long term dry garage storage in NYC where it has sat since 1986. This is the type of find that true collectors dream of. The vehicle has spent its whole life in Queens, NY and only shows 31,732 miles, which judging from the condition of the vehicle I believe to be accurate. The W Series sedan was the entry level Hupmobile for 1934, which featured an 80HP Inline 6 Cylinder engine on a 117” wheelbase. From the research I have done, the main body was custom built by Ford, every thing else is Hupmobile. The car has a great deco style and beautiful lines for a simple sedan, floating running boards, great grille and hood, Deco style fenders, built in rear tire cover, and all doors factory suicude. Now for the condition of the vehicle. The body is the best I have seen for a car of its age. The sheet metal looks almost new old stock. There are no dents or dings in the metal anywhere. No rust repair can be found. Even the wood battery cover looks to be original. The vehicles current paint is actually brushed on rustoleam which shows pretty well for what it is. It sealed the metal amazingly and goes very wheel with the patina of the car. The front bumper is rechromed and the rear is original. All glass is in the car and in very nice shape. The grill has had a few repairs, but complete and straight. Headlight lenses are out of the vehicle, but included. The interior is all original. Dash and gauges show almost no wear for an 80 year old vehicle. Seats have covers over the originals. Door panels where removed and could not be found by prior owner. Mechanically the car is yard drivable. Engine starts right up. The head looks to have been repaired many years ago and is starting to show its age. The clutch is extremely strong and grabs great. Brakes and ever the emergency brake are fully functional and stop well. No lights are hooked up currently, but all original wires are intact. Possibilities are endless for this vehicle. It would be hard to find a better restoration or street rod candidate, simply because the body is just so good. Could also be tinkered with and made roadworthy very easily in its current condition.
