Vehicle Detail
HERE IS AN ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS 1957 CHEVY NOMAD 2 DOOR WAGON WITH STOCK 283 V8 WITH POWER PACK 4BBL AND DUAL EXHAUST THAT IS TURN-KEY AND READY TO DRIVE ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY. BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL DUSK PEARL COLOR. Please e-mail me with questions or to set up an inspection to see the car in person. Vehicle came out of North Dakota. This car was acquired from the 2nd owner I believe, who has had the vehicle since 1976. It received a thorough restoration during 1990, which included paint/bodywork, new interior, chrome, and everything else you could think of. Since then it has been lovingly maintained and used sporadically on nicer days during the spring and summer months. Kept indoors in climate controlled garage, so you couldn't ask for anything more. Body is VERY STRAIGHT with excellent original gaps. Doors open and close flawlessly. I don't think you'll find a nicer car for the money than this one! Under the hood lies the factory 283ci V8 4bbl. motor, equipped with the "Power Pack" option package (which included a 4bbl. carburetor and intake, and dual exhaust system). Virtually all stock with no modifications other than small service parts replaced. Still has the original generator, along with POWER STEERING. Mechanically it fires right up and sounds great along with the nice and throaty exhaust system, which is only a couple of years old. Transmission is solid and shifts good through all the gears without any noises or grinding. I drove the car about once a week, both around town and on the highway and it performs great. You can cruise with it on the highway all day at 65mph and I would trust it to drive anywhere at the drop of a hat. For those days stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, there 's an aftermarket electric fan mounted in front of the radiator to keep it extra cool. Interior is basically all stock with no modifications. Seats are in fair shape (front seat missing one "button", back seat had the lower end reupholstered, while upper end is original and worn in places). Carpet is older but presentable. Door panels are in decent shape, with a couple of small rips by the rear side panels. Headliner and all bows are in excellent shape. Dash is nice with some chips in paint here and there. Steering wheel in fair shape with a few cracks (horn ring needs replacing). Overall beautifully presentable for a nice driver. Underside has a ROCK SOLID frame with some very minor surface rust from regular use. Floorboards are in overall decent shape with a couple of areas where they were patched with new sheetmetal over the existing panel where the rust was cut out. Side braces on the frame also appear to be all there and in pretty decent shape throughout. Spare tire compartment is also in one piece and not completely rotted as they usually are on these cars. Overall structurally sound and in good shape. Chrome is in NICE condition throughout. Trim is nice and bright and bumpers and grille area still has lots of shine and minimal wear. The old girl is NOT perfect by any means of course so please keep that in mind when bidding. Paint is in GOOD overall shape throughout (I had a local body shop wetsand and buff it professionally and it really looks good). There are some small chips, minor scratches, some of which were touched up where needed so it is not perfect of course. Steering box has some play in it. Not working: gauges (odometer needs new cable, other gauges not connected), horn, clock, radio. May need a bulb or two replaced here and there where needed. So overall she is not perfect and will need some form of TLC depending on how nice you want it to be and what you plan to do with the car. Please note, I cannot remember every single issue with the car, nor do I know everything wrong with it, as it is after all over 30 years old so keep that in mind. If you just want a GREAT LOOKING AND VIRTUALLY RUST-FREE HIGH-END TURN-KEY DRIVER then this is the car for you. If you want a show car, it will need some work to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO.
