Vehicle Detail
Ya just don't find them like this anymore...This is an original paint 1967 Volkswagen bus that runs and drives fantastic! The last year of the split window and first year of the 12 Volt electrical system. It just doesn't get much better than this...The story on this bus is it was parked in 1984 and sat behind a well established VW repair shop for years and years. I have friends who tell stories of stopping and asking the owner of the shop if the bus out back might be for sale. I guess he could be a little grumpy at times and would get annoyed and reply that No, it's not for sale and it never will be! I'm sure many a Volkswagen enthusiasts out there have experienced similar situations...I know I have. Well as fate would have it the owner of the shop was getting older and did eventually sell it a couple of years ago to good friend of his who had thought he would keep it forever...You can guess what happened next, that fellow had some important home and family issues to address which meant he had to let the bus go...So that's where I come in...I bought the bus from him thinking I would do a complete restoration on it, but have determined I should probably focus on finishing my current projects instead. So the moral of this long story is...one of you lucky bidders can now actually own the illusive bus that sat behind the VW repair shop for years, yes it can now be yours.....Whew I get long winded sometimes... I bet you would actually like to know about the bus itself. Man it's a sweet ride, it has a rebuilt 1835 Dual Port motor with 125 to 130 pounds compression which has just been serviced. I'm not sure of how many miles are on it but was told that it has less than 10,000 miles. The transaxle shifts smooth and doesn't grind or pop out of any gears. The brakes stop great with a new master cylinder and don't pull or fade. The front end is all original and is in excellent condition. Best of the best, is the original electrical system which has everything working except the fuel gauge, including front, rear, and brake lights, horn, wipers, original AM radio!!!...I mean even the two interior lights as you can see in the pictures...On top of that, the factory heat system works great and there's an original rare gas heater mounted under the dash which turns on but doesn't have the fuel line connected. I did add the hip retro roof rack just for fun. What makes this bus so unique is the OG paint so you can see exactly what you're getting paint and body wise. Yes there is some superficial rust along the rockers which is easily repairable with readily available replacement panels. The rest of the body and undercarriage is incredibly rust free and extremely solid. What's cool about the bus is that you can buy it now and start driving and enjoying it immediately. It's your choice if and when, you want to restore it on your terms. For that matter, it's got a fantastic patina going that is just too sweet. As you know these buses are getting hard to find and going up in value everyday. So if you have anymore questions feel free to call me @ 720-270-5637 . I am open to reasonable offers on my Buy It Now but will only negotiate over the phone or in person and will only sell through my E-Bay listing. Good luck bidding and Happy Holidays!!! Joey
