Vehicle Detail
I purchased this Austin Healey from a long time owner, over 30 years and has been stored in a dry shed for the last 23 years. This a Healey that you can use as a driver and restore at your leisure. Before we tried to start it we took the carburetors apart and cleaned out all the junk from setting all those years with gas hem, cleaned out the gas lines, replaced the gas tank with a good clean used one and installed a new fuel filter inline just before the line went into the carburetors. We took out the spark plugs and cranked the motor until we got oil pressure and put them back in, put in some fresh gas and pushed the starter button and the motor only turned over 2 or 3 times and fired right up and ran smooth with good oil pressure. The brakes needed attention so we installed a new master cylinder, new front wheel cylinders and rebuilt the rear cylinders. I took it out for a drive to see how the transmission was found that the gears were very quiet and the syncros worked like they were new. The overdrive did not engage but after sitting so long it`s probably a electrical problem. The car drove great, pulled strong and had great oil pressure starting at 60 psi when cold and 50 psi when warmed up. The speedometer did not work and is probably the cable or angle drive on the transmission. The radiator is in very good condition and there is a rare factory 6 blade cooling fan. The body is in great condition and is almost rust free. The dogleg area of the rear fenders has had a patch installed and the end of the rocker panels is rusted away and on the RH side the rust goes up into the rocker about 6 in. under the door, There is also a small hole in the trunk floor under the battery and a small hole in the LH toe board of the floor. Other than the dogleg area of the rear fenders all 4 fenders are rust free. You can see by the pictures that the bottom edge of the front shroud and fender was cut away to make clearance for larger tires. The car does not appear to have ever been wrecked. The door gaps are great and they close nice. The windshield has a chip right in the center but a new windshield goes with the car. The front bumper is not great but the rear bumper is a original and it has been re-chromed along with the over riders. The rare LH locking door handle has good chrome as well as the trunk handle and the original numbers matching key works on both. The ignition switch also has the numbers matching original key. The original top bows and top are with the car but the top is shot but has a good wood bow and has one latch missing. There are no side curtains with the car. The paint has nice shine to it but has a lot of small micro bubbles in it but looks good from 20 ft. The original color was Colorado red with Grey interior ( off white ) which is rare. My own Healey is a 1962 BT7 with the same color interior and 4 years ago I replaced my interior and kept the seats which I put in this car, they have the correct leather/vinyl combination on them. The seats that came with the car were horrible looking. The carpet is OK for a driver. The lever for the turn signals is missing but the previous owner wired in a toggle switch on the bottom edge of the dash below the gas gauge. The pictures of the underside of the car look bad but it is very solid with loose scaley rust and lots of oil and grease. Who`d of ever thought that a Healey would leak oil ! NO RESERVE NO RESERVE SOLD AS IS WITH NO IMPLIED WARRANTY OF ANY KIND A $500 non-refundable deposit is to be paid within 48 hours after the end of the auction, I accept Pay Pal or bank transfer.
