Vehicle Detail
Vintage 1964 Thunderbird Convertible, Dry stored for 30 plus years, 90% stripped and near ready for restoration. Body- The exterior body panels (Light blue) are sound with no through rust, Interior panels- The trunk pan will need to be replaced due to thru rust (Issue for these cars in 64); The front wheel wells need spot repaired. The fenders, trunk lids (2 ea. 1 hidden when top is up) are in good shape along with the chrome trim work. Underbody is in need of a deep clean, prep, prime and paint. Buy an aftermarket or original rear fiberglass seating cover and you convert this beast into a 2 seat convertible roadster. In other words ALL the NORMAL things a person would do (Clean, Paint, Repair, Replace) during a top to bottom restoration and end up with 1 VERY CLASSY RIDE! If you know nothing about these cars please google it and watch it in action, it is one smooth sweet ride....you will definitely be impressed as the top and trunk lid lifts open together as the top then folds into the trunk and the trunk lid expands, lowers and locks in. You can even purchase the optional piece that turns this convertable into a Roadster. Exterior- The top is in very good shape (White) for being stored so long and as far as I know it was completely functional, automatically lifted, folded back into the trunk and the trunk lid folded open and closed smoothly. The small trim at the back and the plastic rear window will need replaced for restoration. Interior- Original black leather interior seats, panels, wrap arounds and looks sharp and has been leather treated to prevent crazing/cracking; Engine- 390 cu. in Original engine, when I bought the car after it had set in dry storage for 25 years, I performed a quick start service and the engine fired up smoothly. The engine will have to have a gasket kit put into it, since it has been in storage for so long and you might as well do the transmission too. I guessed on the mileage at 40k but I think it is 38k. The vehicle as a whole- I started it and drove it onto my car hauler when I bought it from an old guy 7 years ago. I started it and drove it into my shop and started dismantling the vehicle for top to bottom restoration. The car needs to be dismantled, cleaned, prepped, under painted and then reassembled. There are no visible dents in the exterior body so body work will look slick. The chrome is in good shape but needs cleaned and polished. I have all the body bolts during disassembly bagged. Parts and extra parts- I have some new (Chrome exterior/interior screws & etc.) and after market (Clone original battery box, Original AC Compressor & etc.) parts that go with this sale. EVERYTHING in my shop that belongs to this car goes with the car- Engine, Transmission, New TB parts, aftermarket parts, chrome, trim, electrical and mechanical parts, hood, trunk lids. Title- Assigned to me and in my possession but I never had it transferred, before I deployed to Iraq; Shipping- The buyer is 100% responsible for picking up, loading and shipping the car and parts. It is currently dry stored and I need a few days notice from the successful buyer on when (Date and time) he will pick up the car or have it picked up. I may be able to store the car longer for the buyer but my son has his mini farm for sale and I have no where to store my cars in the very near future. I also have a vintage 1938 Chrysler Royal with suicide doors that is a gem and is currently on auction too. I have no other place to store my man-man toys, so the toys need to go to a good home and not out in someone's cornfield to rot. The car is located in a dry storage building in Northwest Iowa (near Sioux City). So as you make your arrangements to ship the vehicle and all parts are located near this city point. Warrantees- NO warrantees are implied or expressed, the 1964 T-Bird is being sold AS-IS. Sale- NO CAR, NO TITLE, NO REMOVAL UNTIL PAID FOR IN FULL via Paypal or other acceptable negotiated means or method of payment. If you have an Holiday or shipping time issue (Since it is very close to the holidays and need a spot of extra time YOU HAD BETTER GET ON THE EBAY EMAIL ME AND PROVIDE ME WITH ADEQUATE NOTIFICATION, I will do my best to accomodate the buyer. I run an honest auction so IF YOU ARE NOT A SERIOUS BUYER, DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS THEN PLEASE DO NOT BID! The pictures provided are pictures in storage and are as good as I can get and impossible for me to get better ones due to the fact that I am working in NM.
