Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1980 VW Vanagon. The interior of this vehicle had damage and much of it has been removed (headliner, carpet, panels, etc). Front seats are now covered and remain in reasonable condition. The blower fan is not functional at this time. The engine has had significant work done and runs reasonable well (has had a few vacumm leak issues). A master electrical shut off switch was recently installed as a safety device (can disconnect all electrical power with a flip of the switch). The odometer was replaced with a new unit a few years ago so the true mileage of the vehicle must be listed as "Unknown". I will later post a revision of what mileage read on the odometer before replacement. The body is in really decent condition, showing only minor surface rust (ex where paint may have been nicked or scracth years ago). Vehicle spent most of it's years on the west coast. Engine has small oil seepages, typical for any old VW, but does not pour oil out anywhere. This VW should be considered a project and if you are looking for perfect this is not the right car for you. Runs and drives down the road nicely. Starter just replaced, includes extra tires and more .Newer CD player in van. This auction is as all of my listings an absolute sale with no reserve-you get to place the value. Very hard to find a Vanagon with such a rust free body these days. I can provide additional info on request and will try to post all answers to questions to be veiwed by all. This vehicle is available for local pick up only or will work with the buyer if you work out details with a tranbsport company (zip code is 05062). Vehicle is too old to title in state of Vermont, there for it is being sold with most current registration signed over to new owner plus a State of Vermont secure DMV transfer of ownership form and a state bill of sale. As best as I know this paper work should be adequate to register the vehicle in any US state, but it is up to buyer to verify this BEFORE bidding. Vehicle is not returnable under any circumstances so please be sure you fully understand what you are bidding on before placing your bids! Thanks for looking and happy bidding!! Morse Auto is Vermont State liscensed used car dealer. This vehicle is being sold in as is condition and buyer will be required to sign a federal form indicating acknowledgment of this prior to picking vehicle up.On Dec-05-12 at 16:23:26 PST, seller added the following information: I just went through my paper work on this van and found I do have a California certificate of title and all proceeding transfers of ownership for vehicle-can be registered anywhere with no problems! also invoice indicate actual mileage to be approximately 160,000 miles (yes, this is only a approximate number, still sold as true mileage unknown as odometer was replaced at some point in the last few years. thanks again for your interest! On Dec-06-12 at 03:57:15 PST, seller added the following information: As I am now reading through the description I want to make a clarification, the back seat is missing and has been replaced with a owner built wood unit for sleeping (used as a bed). I can post more interior pictures if requested. On Dec-06-12 at 17:38:32 PST, seller added the following information: a follow up on some of the questions I have been receiving, this Vanagon is currently state inspected and quite road worthy for travel. thank you for all the interest. someone will own this VW in the next few days! you can call me at 802-229-5888 week days (eastern time) for more info.On Dec-08-12 at 06:00:00 PST, seller added the following information: Wow, have had a huge amount of interest and many questions on the Vanagon so far. I will be posting additional pictures in the next day or so. As for mechanical condition, I put the keys in the ignition, started the engine and took it for a test drive. To my pleasure the van 's engine ran great, transmission seemed to shift perfect, steering and handling was as good as it gets. The future owner is going to be really pleased with this prize! Tires are very good and auction includes three extra unmounted tires in excellent condition. I believe this Vanagon is driveable for a long distance trip at this time as it is. I did remove the cover from the drivers seat and found the original seat cover material is in poor condition. As the blower fan is not currently in working order heat would be a problem traveling during our current winter season-but Vanagon owners generally seem to have creative solutions for most anything. It looks like the van originally had air conditioning- most likely many of the a/c component are broken or missing though. Again this van is surprising rust free body wise. Maybe someone will have a tired Westy and install the interior? On Dec-09-12 at 14:06:28 PST, seller added the following information: Several people have inquired about specifics on the engine. It is the original 2 liter fuel injected unit. I have included a couple pictures of the top of it just now for reference. Alos included are two pictures of the homemade wood interior cargo area/ bed and the extra tires that go with this van.
