Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1974 Chevrolet Corvette. This car was found through a friend in the summer of 2011. It had been stored in a New Jersey garage since 1984. Because it was indoors, the frame is perfect and the body has not been hit or stress-cracked. The car is an automatic with power steering and brakes. Manual windows and no tilt-steering. Original 95,400 miles on this beauty. However, because it was inside, it faced heat I believe, which allowed the paint along the rear quarter panel bonding strips to flake in spots. The paint is original, as everything else was when I bought it. I had it put on a flatbed and delivered to my house. I then went to work to get it to driver status by sending the original carburetor out to be professionally rebuilt, exhaust manifolds blasted and coated, and original plug wires and plugs replaced. The gas tank was cleaned, tune-up done and timing adjusted, and she fired right up and idled perfectly. I have since fixed anything that was not working; tachometer gear was replaced, chambered exhaust was installed, and new front and rear bumpers were purchased, professionally painted, and installed. I ordered and installed new slotted and crossed-drilled rotors, calipers, lines, e-brake and master cylinder, before putting new tires on restored GM original rallies. This car is perfect for a repaint, as the interior is all there and original. The radio didn't work but I have it, and it needs a carpet. The e-brake console is cracked, but I have a new replacement that came in saddle color to match. It has air conditioning, but I have the pump removed from the car. Like I said, this is the best candidate I have seen in the years I have owned Corvettes. If I didn't have recently obtained a 1971 4-speed, you wouldn't see this for sale right now. I am giving it a try with a Best Offer, but I don't have to get up and feed it. If it doesn't sell, then I paint it and bring it to Carlisle next August.
