Vehicle Detail

Offered here is a fully restored and exquisite example of a Mercedes 123 chassis model 300 Turbo Diesel 4 door Station Wagon. It started as a meticulously maintained car and was followed with a comprehensive restoration that included a whole host of new parts and improvements. It also is the nice metallic anthracite color with a red accent stripe and rare black interior. This car started as a car with virtually no rust and was repainted after minor body work. As you can see from the pictures, this car is extremely straight and solid and a real attention getter. The car was purchased from the previous owner in excellent condition and the restoration began with an extensive list of mechanical and aesthetic improvements. This was done because the car had such a great body, interior and running gear. We have receipts and documents for thousands of dollars in repairs and improvements (see list) and there were a lot of additional hours in fine detail work. Some of the items that were fixed or replaced included- New (and expensive) Michelin tires- Fully restored (stripped and painted) Stock alloy wheels- Redid brakes including rotors, brake pads and hoses-- New fuel and oil filters- Replaced most of the Water and fuel lines under hood- Restored the front end suspension and steering parts- Recent full service (oil change and etc.) New headlights and fogs- New grill, insert and Mercedes symbol- New headlight doors and side marker lamps- New front trim pieces- New wipers and arms- New front windshield- New engine oil cooler- New radiator- Restored seats (fixed padding and any small tears)- This car has had a lot of work done to make it as amazing as it does! All the window trim was removed (the car was completely stripped of all trim, mirrors, bumpers, door handles and etc. prior to painting) and each piece was hand buffed and polished. In addition, the underside and the wheel wells were also either cleaned or repainted (as needed) and the underside of the car looks like the engine bay and the car exterior….mint!! DETAILS- Mileage- 225,400 original miles (at the time of the photos, Nov. 29, 2012 Color- Metallic anthracite with red pinstripes- Engine- 3.0 liter five cylinder fuel injected diesel 116 horsepower Transmission- four speed automatic Brakes- Dual circuit four wheel disc power assisted w/pad wear indicator. Suspension- Independent front and rear w/coil springs, diagonal swing axle, anti-roll control bar and hydraulic load leveling for the rear. . Other features- MB Tex vinyl interior with front bucket seats, Air Conditioning, Power steering, Power windows, Cruise control, Manual sunroof, Automatic electric antennae, Original Becker AM/FM Stereo Cassette Radio, real Zebrano wood trim, dual headlights with amber driving lights, chrome plated aluminum bumpers w. rubber strips, restored Mercedes alloy 14” wheels and new performance rated Michelin radial tires, new heavy duty battery. Extensive mechanical improvements as listed! Condition- BODY- Excellent body and paint recently did (2012). The paint job has not yet been fully wet sanded and buffed (the owner wanted to let the paint set up for a year) but when that’s done it will be amazing. At this point it still looks amazing! . TRIM- All anodized aluminum trim and window moldings are in excellent condition and most were polished and buffed. As previously listed it has a new front grill, insert and trim pieces, new Mercedes symbol and etc. It also has new headlight doors, new side marker lamps, an excellent front bumper, nice and rear bumpers (has a small spot of missing chrome) and many new rubber moldings, excellent mirrors and rear window trim. Many other trim pieces have been or replaced or reconditioned during the 2012 restoration. Also not previously mentioned is that the bars for the roof rack was removed and each section prepped and rechromed. (Check the pictures of the sun roof and top), INTERIOR- Overall excellent condition- A near perfect dash, no tears in the headliner or door panels, rear seat excellent, driver and passengers seat are also excellent (the car had leather interior and the rear is still leather, the front has a drivers side MB Tex seat and the passengers side is ½ leather). This car is extremely comfortable to sit and the seats are firm and not collapsed (like most 123’s). You seat up high and the ride is super nice! Wood trim on dash is excellent with just weather crack in the center console. Excellent interior chrome and all switches and gauges are solid and crisp. All the carpets are in very good to excellent condition. Like all old cars, there are small items that have some minor discoloration or wear but nothing serious. ENGINE COMPARTMENT- The compartment is unusually clean (including the painted surfaces and decals). It has no evidence of old oil deposits, battery spray or discoloration. Engine and wiring are very clean and well maintained. (See pics). As previously mentioned, it has one of the most perfect running and powerful turbo-diesels we have ever seen and it runs and sounds new. Other details- This car is like driving a new 123! The engine and Trans are superb because of the extreme car and maintenance on the car. Because of the extensive work done, the suspension is exceptionally tight and accurate; the steering is solid and has no slack. The engine is super smooth and has great torque and acceleration and it has no problem getting up to (and exceeding if you not careful) posted highway speeds. This car runs and looks like a new car. If you were hoping for a beautiful wagon (that’s not a show car or trailer queen), than you have found it. This is incredibly economical and meant to be driven. It’s amazingly fun to drive and gets more than its fair share of looks. With the great suspension and steering, it handles like a station wagon sports car! Needless to say, between paint, parts, labor and the new engine, many thousands have been spent on this car. And every penny was worth it. If you need a car for going to work or daily transportation, this spectacular car will do the job and look good going to car shows as well. This car has always been garaged kept and is currently kept under a car cover in a heated garage in Middletown, Md. According to the owner, this car averages 31 mpg or more on the highway and 25 in the city. Its top speed is well over 90 mph and it cruises very comfortably at 70 mph. If you are close to Baltimore or the D.C. area in general, then we encourage you to come see the car in person. As we said before, It is currently located in a heated parking garage under a cover and driven only occasionally. This is a 27 year old car and in most states it will qualify for very inexpensive antique or vintage vehicle tags. Insurance for this car (according to the current owner) is less than $120.00 per year (from Hagerty) and we estimate under current fuel prices that it costs about 16 cents a mile to operate. . Good luck with your bidding and we are confident that you will not be disappointed with the condition or the mechanical soundness of this exceptional and classic Mercedes station wagon! On Dec-04-12 at 11:38:17 PST, seller added the following information: Note: There was a mistake made under 'other items'. The engine is not new.
