Vehicle Detail
1972 PHS-Documented, numbers matching Pontiac Trans Am. The 1972 Trans Am production of 1,286 holds the distinction of being the second lowest in its history. This complete Cameo White car was originally purchased from Ferrar-Bach Pontiac in Los Angeles, CA in Nov 1971. It came with the following options: Am Radio (401), Custom Seat Belts (451), Door Edge Guards (492), Air Conditioning (582), Unit Ignition (634), Console with Floor Shift (431), Rood Drip Moulding (481), Glass Soft Ray all windows (531), California Test (591), Custom Trim Group (724). I am the 3rd owner and have owned since Feb 2004. The car is very tight, starts right up and drives perfectly straight with excellent handling and braking. It is very fast and responsive. There is a small amount of anti-freeze leaking from two failed freeze plugs. Replacement brass freeze plugs come with the car. Shaker hood scoop is fully functioning. Body GM F-body. The car was repainted in 2005/2006 in correct Cameo White and has a deep, rich shine. Body panel fit is very good to excellent and all doors open close easily. Metal is original with the exception of the left front (driver side) fender and trunk floor. Removed all the windows in car, and disassembled the entire body. Entire car was soda blasted including door jambs to bare metal. Replaced trunk floor and repainted with correct GM speckled paint. Enduro bumper is from a donor car, it was primered w/flex primer. Car shell and all parts were primered with PPG 271 corrosion primer. Stripped all 4 wheels and repainted to the factory colors. All parts and shell were blocked by hand, prepped and painted including the door jambs and window openings. Sealer, paint and clear were all PPG products. Wet sanded the shell and parts and buffed / polished to a shine. There are a few very small chips due to subsequent driving that have been touched-up. Honeycomb grille is very nice. The original bumper was rechromed and is in excellent condition. Interior The dash is from a 1971 Trans Am and was refurbished by Just Dashes. All interior panels were redyed. Original floor boards are in excellent condition with additional sound deadener added. Headliner is clean and unripped. New seat covers on all seats in Blue Morokide vinyl custom trim group. Installed new carpeting. Later model formula steering wheel is very nice. Original “fat-style” formula steering wheel comes with the car, but will need to be restored. Glass Front & Rear glass is excellent, passenger side glass is very good, driver side glass has some light scratches Electrical Interior & exterior lights, gauges, horn, radio, concealed wipers and turn signals all work correctly. The rear reverse lights are not currently connected due to the headers, but a reverse linkage bar is included. The high speed on the fan currently does not work, and the blower motor has very low power. The A/C was converted to 134a. Original Tick Tock Tach, RPM tachometer gauge works perfectly, but the clock runs only intermittently (most likely due to points needing cleaning). Period correct AM/FM AC Delco radio works correctly. Rear speakers were mounted underneath new package tray, which was uncut. New battery Sept 2012 includes warranty.
