Exceptional Ultimate and RARE Car in SUPERB condition - 1994, Mercedes Benz SL600 (12 Cylinder, 48 Valve), 389HP, with extensive Service History and more than $9,700 in recent maintenanceitems completed. If you are interested in an SL600, this is a listing you cannot neglect to read. I believe in being totally transparent to any would be buyer, because I am not a dealer but the private owner and I am not and never have been in the automobile business, but I am a private enthusiasts forced to sell due to financial/tax issues. When new, this SL600 had an MSRP price of $136,775. This was the pinnacle for Mercedes in their line-up for model year 1994. The car has 69,000 – completely documented miles. The car was garaged and spent most of its life in Naples, Florida in the Winter months, and driven to Maryland in the summer months. The previous Owner always garaged the car – it was never parked outside overnight. This car looks, drives and performs as new. It has a beautiful spotless hardtop with clean headliner and heated rear window. The convertible looks new and was replaced very recently, and works perfectly by pushbutton. If you have always looked at the Mercedes SL, I can promise you that most of the owners out there who have the 8 cylinder (SL500), or SL320 - wish they had the SL600 12 Cylinder. This is the car to have both in terms of collecibility, but performance as well. If you have never driven this car - it is a rocket ship.. I'm a 53 year old guy, so my speeding years are over. But I can tell you that power-band on this car is relentless, and when you step on the gas it stretches it's legs like nothing else I have ever driven. It also has an automatically deployable rollbar, wrapped in beautiful black hand-sticthed leather. The interior and the body is beautiful… No cost was spared in replacing any and all parts that needed the slightest bit of attention. Unlike other listings on EBAY for SL600's - this one needs nothing. If you don't stay on top of it... the upkeep on these cars can be expensive, so if you don’t buy one that has been maintained you will pay thousands to get it right. Many of the SL600 cars you see on here are owners who cannot keep up with the expense of repairs. I have heard many stories about folks who bought one of these cars and had to follow-up with $10,000 or more to get them right. I was planning to keep this car for the long haul - and that is why I put so much money into it (read on), but financial circumstances are forcing me to sell. Another key factor that MOST perspective buyers do not know about is that these cars came from the factory with a defect with the Engine Wiring Harness from 1991-1996, and that problem was related the wiring harness jacket deteriorating (biodegradable material) and causing shorts and premature failure of many electronic components. That problem, known throughout the industry has caused these cars to have a depressed value realtive to what they should cost. Be advised that for many of these R129 SL’s, including the SL320 and the SL500 - available in the USED CAR marketplace – this problem has not been addressed and is the painful source of computer failures and electronic problems, including the drive by wire engine performance. read on.. Well, this car has NONE of those problems as the Wiring Harnesses on this vehicle were replaced under warranty (I have the warranty history) 29,00 mles ago - with the new re-designed harnesses and today, they look as good as new. All electronic controls, instrument clusters, switches, lights, climate controls, vent/blower operations, mirror controls, electric seats - etc... work perfectly... not a single problem. Also, airbags were re-serviced and certified by MB in 2009. One more thing, I have the complete Service History of this car – including the Mercedes Benz VMI report (Vehicle Master History) report – so the maintenance and pedigree of service on this car is completely documented as are the miles in CARFAX. I made sure I understood the history of this car when I bought it - and have addresses all known issues since my purchase. But financial problems are forcing me to sell it now. The car as it sits has a blue book value of $13,149.00, but as you will read below - I just completed $9,700 of maintenance and repairs on the car - and it is perfect. So my loss is your gain. With only 69k miles on the car and the refresh of all the expensive components that was just completed, it is good to you gor the next 100k miles with ony occasional mnor maintenance needed such as oil changes and brakes.. but even the brakes were just replaced. If you go to the Mercedes Dealer and try to buy a Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes, you're going to pay a lot more than $15,000 for a car, and it won't be anywhere near the quality, cailber and build of this one with only 69k miles on it - and $10,000 worth of maintenance and refresh just completed.
