Vehicle Detail
*** ESTATE SALE *** From a southern California ESTATE ........ We are offering up for sale at a NO RESERVE Auction ........... One 1975 International Harvester Scout II and this is a one owner vehicle. Manufactured in October of 1974 to be sold as a 1975 year model, this SCOUT has been well cared for and has years of service left. It currently has just shy of 135,000 original miles on the odometer and someone ........(WHY NOT YOU?)......... is going to get a great buy on a sturdy and reliable 4 wheel drive vehicle that is equally at home on the highway or a backwoods road. The SCOUT II was produced from 1971 to 1980 and in 1974 the model was given substantial upgrades including dana 44 axles, power steering and power disc brakes as standard equipment. The SCOUT line was among the very first Sport Utility Vehicles produced in America and immediately people everywhere understood the freedom that a 4 x 4 vehicle like this offered everyone........... This 1975 example that we are selling is powered by a 5.7 litre 345 cubic inch V-8 engine coupled to a 3 speed automatic transmission and is surprisingly comfortable to drive. It has plenty of power for highway trips and is as comfortable creeping down a rough road that demands 4 wheel drive. We have tested this SCOUT II in 4 wheel high and low ranges as well as the standard 2 wheel drive mode and found all to be working flawlessly. The engine has never been apart and starts and runs smoothly as it should with 135,000 original miles. For our learning impaired bidders ....... that is only 3,750 miles per year! .....and that will be hard to beat. We have taken a lot of photographs of this SCOUT II and encourage you to take the time to look at the slideshow that contains about 150 photos. You will see photos of the under-carriage as well as any spots that we located rust. There is some rust in spots on this SCOUT II and we have done our best to show you those areas .......... but it is by no means a rust bucket. The worst area that shows rust is down the drain rail on the REMOVABLE top on the passenger side of the vehicle. Another area that shows rust is the passenger side front windshield post ........ but that post is a removable and seperate part ....... so that can be replaced easily. In areas you would expect to see rust like the bottom of the door frames ....... there is little to be seen ........ and you will see from our shots of the undercarriage that what is visible is light surface rust. This SCOUT has a heavy duty roll bar already installed!.......... If you are considering bidding on this SCOUT ......... please take the time to click on the link at the bottom of this listing and watch the slideshow of 150 photographs that we have provided. This SCOUT II was manufactured in October of 1974 and was purchased by the current and only owner in January of 1975. Used as a commuter during the week and on the weekends he enjoyed traveling through the deserts and mountains of southern California. He beefed up the front and rear bumpers by inserting steel and mounted a steel skid plate over the rear gas tank for protection as you will see in the photos. The rear skid plate is attached to the trailer hitch mount on the rear. This Scout II would be a excellent platform for someone to restore it to original specs, but I think the best thing is that it is in usable condition as it is, without the buyer having to lay out a lot of additional money after the purchase to use it. I have personally put over 100 miles on the vehicle and found it to be reliable and easy to drive with plenty of power, light and precise steering and good stopping power in the brakes. The tires have a lot of tread left on them, but there is some cracking on the sidewalls so tires will need to be purchased fairly soon in my estimate. The AC works well and blows cold. The interior seats were re-done about 10 years ago and avocado color used gives it a cool retro look. The exterior was re-painted at about the same time. The speedo and odometer are working fine. The radio/stereo system is not working and should be replaced and the cb radio in the dash also looks to be junk. Please e-mail or call Mike at 760-219-7128 with any questions ot to make an appointment to come and see this SCOUT II. SO? ....... What is a one owner 1975 SCOUT II with 135,000 original miles worth today on the secondary market? ........... I have recently seen SCOUTS that are not as nice or as original as this one ....... and the owners are asking in excess of $10,000.00 for them........... I think that anything LESS than $7,500.00 would be a steal for this SCOUT. Bidding on this one will start at a single Benjamin Franklin and we will sell this 1975 SCOUT II with NO RESERVE to the high bidder. We are advertising this SCOUT locally and on other internet sites, so do not sit on your hands and plan to bid at the end ........ you will likely find it already SOLD! TERMS of SALE: We require a $1,000.00 deposit within 48 hours of the Auction end, and we require full payment within 7 days of the Auction end without exception. PayPal is fine for the deposit but not the balance. For the balance we would prefer a bank to bank wire-transfer or you can send by FedEx or Priority mail a check if you prefer. The vehicle will NOT be delivered until our bank is satisfied it has received good funds ....... No Matter who your Daddy is! SHIPPING: Any needed shipping will be done at the buyers expense and direction. We will assist your shipper any way that we can including delivery of the vehicle to the shipper of your choice anywhere within 75 miles of La Quinta, California. We will store this vehicle for 30 days without charge (after it is paid in full) so that the buyer can arrange a time to come and pick it up. If you are flying into the Palm Springs, California International Airport, we will be happy to pick you up. WARRANTIES: As always we have done our best to describe this 1975 SCOUT II accurately .......and we have provided 150 photographs of the vehicle to help you make your own determination about condition ....... but we are selling a 1975 model that has traveled 135,000 miles ...... so we are selling it with NO WARRANTIES expressed or implied. If it is at all possible, we encourage you to come and inspect this SCOUT II personally as we know you will not be dissapointed. It is available to be seen by appointment in Indio, California. All of the photos of this vehicle were taken in the last week. TO SEE 150 PHOTOS of this SCOUT II.......
