Vehicle Detail

This is a survivor!!! 1962 Mercury Comet S-22 in factory Peacock Blue with blue interior. This car has been garaged since 1987 up until last month. Periodicly started and washed over the years, but not driven over the road. This car starts right up and comes with a good battery. Just replaced: Brake Master Cylinder Fuel PumpVacuum PumpFuel LinesFan BeltHeater HosesVacuum Lines (Rubber)BatteryTiresOther Misc. Incidentals... There is minor surface rust on floorboards and in trunk, but as you can see in the pictures, all of these areas are solid and will not need patch panels. Body is extremely nice. It looks like at some point it was repainted, but there are only minor defects. All panels line up nice, doors work and latch beautifully. Trunk opens but latch needs to be adjusted. Glass is all good. It has a freeze plug that has corroded. (no frost damage, this is Texas!) I thought it was a bad heater hose so I replaced them. The pin hole is keeping me from topping off the cooling system. I can't see anything else that would prevent it from being driven around town. Tires are new. This is an S-22 model. Front bucket and rear bench with the rear seat embossed "S-22". Center console present and fully functional. S-22 emblems on each side of roof. If you are looking for a cruiser, rat rod, father-son project, or budget minded vehicle, this one is perfect! Parts are readilly available and many interchange with Falcon, Mustang, Thunderbird, and other Ford/Mercury/Lincoln/Edsel cars of the day. I've included a picture of the Comet Overhaulin' did on their show. Another fun fact, this body was designed and originally intended to be sold through the Edsel dealers. After FoMoCo disbanded Edsel, the Comet was sold it's first year without any brand emblem. It was simply a Comet. This car was the first year Mercury branded them as Ford was already selling the similar Falcon. In my opinion, this is a much cooler car with the tail fins! As those of you that watch Overhaulin', Texas Car Wars, Gas Monkey Garage, Wrecks to Riches, and all the other car shows know, it's best to start a project with a car with NO rust!!! This car is it! Either a weekend of tinkering for an everyday cruiser or something more aggressive, this car has great bones! I'm listing what imperfections I can see. Depending on what you plan to do with this car, they may not bother you... Headliner and carpets were removed. Trunk lock missing (matching lock sets are readily available online). Wiper blade (not arm) missing. Some trim was removed, but placed in the trunk. Interior is usable and original, but has some split seams and imperfections with age. This car was last registered in 1987. Comes with signed blue title issued in 1973!!! Car will need to be paid for within 3 days of auction close. I can store for upto 45 days. It is located in Liberty Hill, TX, which is about 30 minutes north of Austin, TX. Only 15 minutes off I35.
