2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI 4-Door Sedan 1.9L Turbo Diesel *Mechanics Special* Up for sale is a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 4-Door Sedan with a 1.9L Turbo Diesel engine and automatic transmission. This is a Mechanics Special in need of repair. This car will need work before it is ready for the road and will need to be towed away. The Bad: There is something wrong with the glow plug circuit which makes the engine hard to start in cold weather. This is a common problem with TDI's and not too hard to fix. In the summer it started right up but the cold fall weather has been making the engine hard to start. The engine makes a loud noise when running, I suspect it is the injection pump going bad but i have not had it looked at. The check engine light comes on when the car is on (another common problem on these cars). It had a short circuit in the wiring near the relay panel that was repaired in 2010 but the mechanic didn't put the relay panel back together all the way so the relays are hanging down by the wires (the parts to reattach the relays are all in the trunk). There is a dent in the passenger side rear door near the hinge. The cigarette lighter is broken. The center caps have fallen of the wheels, 3 of 4 are there and ready to be put back on. the mirror part of the drivers side mirror has fallen off but the housing is in great shape. The rear ashtray is missing it's cover. The Good: Clean title. The tires hold air and the car rolls freely. the interior is in great shape, all the power accessories are working. the exterior is in good shape except for the dent on the passenger side rear door. It is mostly stock. It has an aftermarket aluminum skid plate installed. It has a plug in coolant heater installed. It has an EGR Cooler Delete kit installed (original EGR Cooler in the trunk). Includes a few extra sensors and relays, a chilton's manual and some printouts from the bentley manual as well as a .pdf copy of the bentley manual on a cd. This car is being sold as-is, with no warranties expressed or implied. I have done my best to honestly describe all the problems with the car but i am not responsible for anything that I am not aware of. The winning bidder will be required to put down a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT WITHIN 48 HOURS after the auction ends. The car must be picked up with in 21 days of the end of the auction. I will help with loading the car up if you have it shipped but the buyer is responsible for any shipping costs. The rest of the payment must be made before the car will be released.
