Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 1977 Porsche 911S. It is dark green with a tan leather interior and runs strong with a newly rebuilt engine. I have owned this car since May 2002 and am the fourth owner. The previous seller lived in California and owned two other 911s that he had put a lot of money into. This was his third and he didn't have enough time to devote to it. It was repainted the original color before he took possession, but he didn't get the chance to do anything to it. Before that I don't have any history on the car. I have records of all service done and parts replaced under my ownership including the engine rebuild 5,000 miles ago. I have the title in hand, clean and in my name. This would be a great first 911 or a just a fun car for someone who appreciates classic car design. You will not be disappointed with this 911. It is agile, responsive, and ready for the road. Engine/ElectricalThis 911 is in great driving condition. It has been my daily driver (and only car) since I bought it, though I am fortunate enough to be able to walk to my job and as a result drive very little, as evidenced by the mileage since the rebuild. The mechanic who did the rebuild called this the peppiest mid 70s 911 he has ever driven. It has plenty of power and pulls through the turns. There are no mechanical issues to my knowledge. The AC stopped working years ago though all of the parts are still in the car. There is a small oil leak near the rear right tire well as is fairly common with this model 911. If you sit at a light for five minutes when the car is hot, you will see some light smoke, but nothing excessive. It is not noticeable when driving, and is likely due to some oil residue on the undercarriage. If the car sits for a few weeks, oil will collect and burn off as is normal, but when driven regularly, this is not an issue. All gauges work (including the clock), though I don't ever rely on the oil gauge and check oil regularly. The right turn signal indicator light is not illuminating inside the car since the tachometer was repaired. However the signal lamps still work properly and the internal light on the dash is likely a simple fix. The brakes are solid. The handbrake works. Shifting is smooth, though first gear can occasionally take a second try. Overall everything is very sound. When I received the car it had 227,000 miles on it. The odometer was replaced slightly north of 242k miles and now has 16.5k miles on it, so the body has just under 260,000 miles. The engine was rebuilt by AutoAtlanta in Marietta, GA in 2007 and has just over 5,000 miles on it. I am happy to email the engine work order. In the last eight years I put 16k miles on the car, with most of those being highway miles. Major work in that time includes brakes, fuel lines, wiring harness, engine rebuild (including timing chains and guides), and the clutch. Work since 2008 has been done at RWL German Imports, who did a complete 5000 mile service in September of this year. Below is a list of major work and dates: Tachometer/headlight repainting/5000 mile service: September 2012 Front brakes/5000 mile service: Feb 2010 Fuel lines and wiring harness: May 2008 Clutch replacement: June 2007 Engine rebuild (including timing chain and guides)/rear brakes: Jan 2007Speedometer replacement: Feb 2004 Oil cooler replacement: Jan 2004 Headliner and rear window seal: Aug 2003 Paint: June 2003Paint/bodyThe car is classic and understated, and the dark green color is unique. It is Oak Green Metallic, often mistaken for British Racing Green. I had it repainted the original color in 2003. The car looks great from 10 feet, but as you might expect from a daily driver, the paint is cracked or bubbling in a few areas. I have additional photos, but the basic condition is documented in the listing photos. Additional bubbling is apparent where the trunk meets the windshield and on the driver side rear quarter panel. The front valance has plenty of rock chips, and there are chips on the passenger door. The lower quarter of the trunk paint is hazy as seen in the photos. I cannot describe every little blemish in detail, so please review the listing photos for paint condition.Overall the body is in great condition. The car was backed into in a parking lot that required replacement of the door and caused a little curb rash to one wheel (see Fuch detail shot), but there was no other damage to the car. There is a dent and scratch behind the driver's door that occurred literally the week after I got it back after being painted (see photos). The passenger side rocker panel is slightly deformed near the rear tire. As you can see, the body is straight and true with minor imperfections. The two front tires are Kumho Ecsta SPT, 95/55R-15. They were installed in July 2006. The two rear tires are brand new Kumho Ecsta 4X, same size, installed in April of this year. The collapsible spare tire is in the car. The emergency jack needs replacing. The fog lights have never been hooked up, so I do not know if they work.InteriorThe interior is serviceable, though it is original, and was ready for a rehab when I got it in 2002. The tan leather seats show cracks and wear typical for the age of the car. The leather dash has a black plastic cover installed over it, which is also typical. I have black door pockets, though they were catching on the door sills so I took them off to prevent damage. They will be included loose in the car. The driver's side rear seat has difficulty opening, but I never have the seats up. The window regulators are showing their age. They can be rolled up and down with effort, though the driver's window needs hands on the glass to fully close it. Also, the sunroof has leaked in torrential downpours, but stays dry in most rain events. The sound system was installed by Owner 2, and includes four speakers and a subwoofer. There is an amp under the seat. I had the Blaupunkt CD player head unit installed. The system is very loud, though the sound of the engine is always the star of the show.Payment/ShippingBuyers with less than 5 feedback must contact me before bidding. I require a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the close of the auction. Full payment must be made within seven days. NOTE: I will be leaving the country for two weeks on November 16th, so all transactions MUST be complete by the 15th at the latest. NO exceptions. I strongly prefer a bank to bank transfer for expediency. I will also accept cash or a cashier's check with funds to be verified at a local bank. If the car is to be shipped, I will only accept a bank to bank transfer, with all funds cleared before I release the car. I will cover the cost of the bank wire. The buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements. I am happy to assist. Again, all funds need to clear with pickup/shipping completed by November 15th. No international buyers. Sold as is, where is, all sales final. Carefully read all terms.Final thoughtsI have a collection of spare parts and accessories that will be transferred at time of sale, as well as repair and project books. I have loved every minute of driving this car. Had I more opportunity to drive it, I would probably keep it forever. I am not a speed demon and have treated it very well. No revving through the gears or being tough on the engine. While I would love to keep it and will very likely regret selling it, I have no need for two cars in my household and want someone else to treasure driving it. I want the winning bidder to be as happy with the car as I have been, so please ask all questions before bidding. I believe I have documented the condition of the car accurately and thoroughly and don't want any surprises for the buyer. It is possible that I may have overlooked some minor aspects. If you think I have left anything out, have a specific question, or want additional information or photos, please contact me before bidding. This is a 35 year old daily driver that is in fantastic shape, but understand that it is being sold without any warranty, expressed or implied, of any kind. If you keep up with regular maintenance you should love it for a long time. I am still driving it as of this listing, so the mileage will increase from the current 16,600, but not more than a few hundred miles. I want to keep it exercised before transferring it to a new home. This car is listed for sale locally and I reserve the right to pull the auction if it sells before the end date. Good luck bidding, and ask questions!
