Vehicle Detail
Hi Folks, I am listing my beloved 1964 Studebaker T-cab truck for sale today. I bought this truck a few years back from the original owners son in Kansas. At the time we purchased the truck the seller indicated the truck had never been more than 25 miles from the farm we bought it from. It showed just under 32,000 miles which he also indicated was the correct milage. The speedo quit on the drive home (Yes, we flew out and DROVE the truck home to South Carolina) but true milage is still quite low (around 36,000). It is equiped with the indestructable Studebaker 289 and the 4 speed. Since I purchased it I have done a few things to the truck but really not much. I put 4 brand new tires on it in Kansas, 3 of which remain on the truck. The 4th tire was cut through the sidewall and replaced with a used tire that is showing more dryrot than I am comfortable with but it is still up and holds air. I replaced the battery with a new Optima, rebuilt the fuel pump and cleaned the entire fuel system, had new exhaust from the engine back installed, replaced all of the freeze plugs, replaced the windshield with a much better used one and added the windshield trim, Rebuilt the transmission, and a few other piddly things I fixed on the truck along the way. Currently the truck needs a water pump installed (one on the truck is noisy) and the clutch adjusted to be 100% mechanically sound. It does have air but needs one pulley and hoses to make the air work. The radio is not connected and does not seem to have a speaker. The body is as you see in the pics. The floors had the normal cracks around the mounts and appears to have been glassed over. It is quite solid when you stand on it etc.. but has been "farm" repaired. There is very little rot in the truck the worst of which is the drivers side cab corner. Obligatory Stude bubbles at the rear of the front fenders. The truck is actually very solid overall with little rust. Both tailgates pictured come with the truck. It will need one pivot replaced (available) for the gate. Somewhere in life the truck had a rear end change to something most likely from a Chevrolet as well as being converted to a GM alternator. I would have no qualms about driving this truck to anywhere reachable on dry land. If I were rich and famous this truck would get the frame up treatment and stay here forever. Unfortunately, I am not rich and famous and have too many projects ahead of this one to justify keeping it. Feel free to ask questions or come drive the truck. Also listed in other venues so I reserve the right to end auction early. Thanks, and Happy bidding!! On Oct-27-12 at 19:18:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a link to a video of the truck starting and running. http://vzaar.com/videos/1102590On Oct-28-12 at 12:00:32 PDT, seller added the following information: In answer to a question, Yes, all 4 hubcaps remain with the truck. They have the common walking hubcap problem easily cured with a few spots of silicone. I had popped the one missing in the photos off during my last trip in it because it was putting more pressure on the valve stem than I was comfortable with. It has been replaced as seen in the video. Thanks for looking!
