Vehicle Detail
This is my 1958 Cadillac Eureka Side Loader (3 way) Hearse. When I got the car last year, it had been sitting in the same spot at the edge of a field for about 20 years. Since I have had the car, I've installed disc brakes up front, installed new head gaskets, new water pump, new ignition, and replaced the wheels and tires with a set that clears the calipers from the disc brake upgrade. I also installed a Wilwood master cylinder and brackets to allow the brake pedal to work since the original equipment was corroded so much. It works well enough for moving around in the yard but I do not feel it is adequate for street use. I have all of the parts I removed from the car after I got it and the buyer is welcomed to take them as well. All four original Cadillac wheel covers are also included. This car has a 390 V8 engine (not original) with a hydramatic 4 speed transmission. It fires up without issue and the car will drive around the yard but there are no rear brakes (parts to rebuild them are included) nor is the fuel system ready for use; this car will need to be trailered home. I use a small 1 gallon tank and an electric pump to move the car around when I need to. It may be used to drive the car onto a trailer but the pump and tank do not go with the car. This vehicle has a clean and clear title in my name so there will be no paperwork hassles when the buyer transfers the car into their name. The car is mostly solid with the exception of the rear door where trees grew next to it as well as in between the bumper. The worst of the rust is the hole in the bottom of the rear door which is pictured. There is significant surface rust underneath the body though none of the floors are rotted through or anything of that nature. There is evidence of bondo work in the rear quarter panels. All of the electrics appear to work (headlights, backup lights, brakes lights, etc) though some of the turn signal bulbs are burnt out. All of the glass is in excellent shape with the exception of a scratch on the passenger side of the windshield. None of the original casket table hardware was with the car when I purchased it and none of the hardware has been replaced since I have owned it. What is shown in the pictures is exactly all of the hardware currently available with the car. As it was told to me by the previous owner, this car was owned and driven as a personal vehicle for many years after it was removed from service. When I got this car, I intended to make it into a cruiser and you can find the forum thread where I documented my work on the car at NationalHearse.net. As some projects tend to go, this one just doesn't have my attention anymore and I'd like to move it on to someone who has the motivation to put some wrenches to it.
