Vehicle Detail

First I am not a car dealer or a photographer for that matter, so my car lingo and pictures aren't fantastic. I am honest however and will represent this truck accurately. Up for Sale is my 1970 Chevrolet C-10 Pickup. I am including details below that I would ask if I were a buyer. I welcome your questions as well and can provide additional details and pictures upon request. There are a lot of details below so please read the description thoroughly. It is an Unmolested Truck with a clean NC title. This truck was purchased brand new in Western North Carolina and was ordered in flat blue, with Chrome package, with no air, power brakes or power steering. He also ordered it with the gold/beige interior. When the truck arrived is was metallic instead of flat. The owner accepted the truck anyway and drove it for nine years. The truck was repainted in 1979 and that is the paint that is still on the truck today. You really have to see it to appreciate it. It looks like it could have been painted a year or two ago and shows very very nicely. The first owner died and his wife drove the truck just occasionally. After she passed, a gentleman friend purchased the truck here locally and drove it sporatically as well until he went blind a few years ago. The truck then sat for several years in his garage until he finally gave in and sold the truck to a friend of mine, Chris. Chris only had the truck for 9 months as he usually doesn't keep anything for very long. He reluctantly sold it to me as he had found a '67 Camaro that sparked his interest. He is a certified mechanic and has done a lot of work over the years on vehicles like this. He got the truck running like new and eventually changed the manifold, heads, carb, breather, etc.. He also added Power brakes and power steering out of a donor 1970 truck. However, I have all of the original parts if someone ever wanted to convert it back to 100% original. It still has the original 307 V8 motor, tranny, and rearend. Nothing has been replaced on the truck with the exception of what is written above. Both myself, Chris and countless other locals can attest that the miles are 100% right and original on the truck. However, I have to confess that we cannot document that. If you see the truck, and take into account the individual pieces of evidence, I am sure you will agree that the miles are accurate. That isn't disrespecting anyone elses claim on similar trucks, but this truck is right. Answers to potential questions are written below, but if you have others, please let me know. Why am I selling? It looks as though my daughter will get into Duke University and the $ 60K per year has us really tightening the budget. Paint and body? Truck has never been wrecked. No body work whatsoever (bring your magnet) The only exception is the 1979 repaint. I have included two photos of the only body issues that are on the truck. The front right bottom fender near the bumper has a little bit of rust from where the battery leaked several years back. The other issue is a small area on the top front of the left bed rail where an old fashioned "redneck" antenna sat for many years. You see a lot of them here in the mountains because radio signals were so bad back in the day. I have been quoted $ 400 to repair these issues properly with new metal and paint work. The paint is excellent and doesn't have any cracks, dents, spider webbing, orange peel or other issues. If you wanted to really go over the top it could be wet sanded again and buffed, but it doesn't need it. White top is also excellent. The chrome on the truck is at least an 8/10 and isn't faded, dented or crooked. The bed of the truck is very near perfect. I would put it up against any bed on a C-10 in the country. It is a testament to the care that this truck has been shown over the years. Hood goes up and down perfectly with no sway, bend or extra effort needed. Doors shut properly and don't sag. Tailgate is also in perfect working order. The Chrome trim package on the sides is also very nice and isn't dented. The black paint between has a few minor faded spots that could easily be touched up, but again it isn't necessary. How is the interior? Dash has never been cut or molested. Interior is also very nice. The interior paint on dash and door panels shows very well. The truck has the original floor mat still in it and it is in exceptional shape. The dash pad is original and curls a little on the ends but shows nicely and isn't all cracked up. The door panels are original without cracks and operate perfectly. The seat is also original and though it isn't torn, the fabric is delaminating. This is an issue that will need to be addressed at some point to preserve the integrity of the seat. It is intact and rides nice however and has all cushioning and doesn't need replaced. However, I actually have a perfect black vinyl seat that goes with the purchase if you like others wished to convert the interior to black. I chose not to do so to preserve the truck just as it was ordered from the factory and if I were keeping her, I would have the seat reupholstered. If you chose to keep the gold/beige interior, the correct time period covers are readily available. The only other thing on the truck that isn't perfect is the steering wheel itself. As you may or may not know they were made with a bakelite type material that is very prone to seperating. The wheel is certainly secure and isn't falling apart and isn't missing anything, but the appearance isn't perfect. Replacement steering wheels are about $ 200.00 and again I have waited because I wan't sure whether I was going to convert the interior trim to black or not. Mechanicals: This truck does not leak a drop of oil! Not one drop. The brakes are perfect and tight, emergency brake works perfects, all gauges work perfectly including the AM radio. The truck cranks right away, transmission shifts perfectly, and steers straight down the road. Truck has never been lowered or lifted. Tires/Wheels: Truck is original 6 lug chevy. The truck has 15 x 10 American Racing Aluminum wheels. The wheels were about $ 350 apiece when new and they still look new and aren't scratched. The tires are older but nice and have about 75% tread left. Truck also has new shocks. Glass: The glass is perfect all around with no cracks. Truck has a 1 layer of tint on the windows. All windows roll up and down with ease. Rubber and trim around the glass is also good and not dry rotted. Other: Has original T3 headlights, good hoses, stock exhaust in good shape, have the original hub caps as well that go with the truck. Heat works perfectly but could use a new 1 foot hose in the cab as the one on the truck has a hole in it. (a 5 second fix that I'll do if I can remember). All turn signals, lights, back up lights, bulbs work perfectly. Windshield wipers work perfectly. Rust free frame. Truck is straight as can be. I also have the pulleys that are required if anyone wanted to eventually add vintage air conditioning. That is about all that I can think of right now, again if you have questions, please inquire. The truck is damn near perfect and if someone wanted to make it a #1 Show truck it wouldn't take a whole lot of effort, the truck needs nothing and very little to be perfect. You really have to see and drive the truck to appreciate it and I encourage you to drive some others first. I would appreciate serious inquiries only. I do not need any help selling. The truck is for sale locally but isn't being advertised as such mostly because I don't have the time to show it to every person who just wants a joy ride or shoot the breeze. That being said if you are a serious buyer, I am happy to spend the time and effort to show you the truck and let you drive it. So I reserve the right to end the auction early if the right buyer comes along. Also if you wish to make an offer send me an email. I will not respond to offers that don't have 5 figures. Please see my feedback as I am a very reputable guy and would certainly prefer to do business with like minded folks. $ 500.00 deposit is required 48 hours before the end of the auction. I will gladly assist and help to coordinate in the shipping of this truck, but you will have to get your own quotes. Finally, thanks very much for looking and good luck with the auction.
