Vehicle Detail
This is an original example of one of the last muscle Camaros.1971 was the last year for true performance. The story with this car (as best as I know)this car was sold new in Atlantic City and stayed close to that area is whole life.I believe I am the 5th owner of the car.The person I bought the car from was the 2nd and 4th owner. There is a picture of the body tag,if you decode it, it says the car was built in Norwood in the fourth week of March-71. You can see from the picture of the body tag that this car is in its original color (Mulsanne Blue).this car also was factory with black stripes,Black deluxe interior no vinyl top. It is a factory Z28,4spd,4.10 rear car.(all 1971 Z28's came with the 10 bolt rear),but 4.10 gear ratio was a factory option.I do not believe that the short block in this car is the original one,but it ts period correct 350,the motor was replaced at some time. All the brackets, valve covers, intake carb, distributor, air cleaner,ect... were reused. The transmission(from the research I've done) is the aluminum case Muncie witch should be a M22.The rear is the factory 10-bolt 4.10 posi. It is very hard to describe how original this car is,it runs very well, starts everytime, shifts smooth(all gears work as they should no grinding or noises of any kind). The clutch is good, smooth also. The entire car is just tight! The doors don't squeak or rattle.Steering and suspension are tight and work as they should. The brakes front and rear are new(completely rebuilt). The emergency brake works too.I just did a complete tune up using all AC Delco parts as well.Plugs,Wires,Cap,Rotor,Points,Fuel filter,And new U-joints(all three). This car is a driver,it runs very good and you could drive it anywhere,as long as you don't mind the 4.10 gears.I bought this car about 5yrs ago with the intention of restoring the car.I've since gotten very busy with kids,work,ect....and I realize that i would rather spend more money on a car that is done already. You can see from the photos of the bottom of the car that I did some work under the car.It is very common for these cars to rust on the rear frame area of the leaf-spring pocket.I spent the time and cut all the rust out from that area and welded in new frame rails from the spring pocket to about half way up over the rear. You can see the area I repaired as the paint is fresh in the pics. While I had the car apart I scraped all the undercoating off from about the area of the pinion yolk all the way back to the tail panel.when I did this I etch primed and painted everything with Eastwood chassis black epoxy paint.I also installed new leaf-spring bushings and shackles. All the rear brake lines are new as well as all the rubber fuel lines connecting to the gas tank. The gas tank was professionally cleaned out while I had it out of the car.As you can see in the photos this car is complete and original. It does need some work but a great project car or a driver what ever you prefer.Ask any questions you may have.I'll try to answer them all. Thanks for looking and good luck. This car is offered for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel this auction if I sell the car before the end of the auction. On Oct-31-12 at 21:31:38 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that there is a set of factory deluxe seats that go with this car.(they need new covers). Also there are a new pair of split front bumpers, new N.O.S. rocker moldings, and N.O.S. sill plates.
