Vehicle Detail
Hello and welcome to our auction, Up for bid is My Dad's 1963 Oldsmobile,Dynamic 88,Holiday hardtop.114,000 Original miles. The pictures tell the story on this Awesome piece of history, Completely ORIGINAL condition with NOTHING ever being modified or changed to deter from the originality. I know a lot about this car as my Dad(now deceased) drove this thing forever, yes it still runs and was driven to the spot these photos were taken at just a few days ago, then the front tire went flat apparently. Exterior of the car is in excellent condition with only very superficial surface rust and minor dings and dents, there is no rust through in this car anywhere and it is as solid as the day it was built,The Interior is for the most part completely original and will need complete restoration or customizing if desired. ALL GLASS IS IN CAR AND GOOD, The engine runs like a scalded dog and as far as any of us remember it shifted perfect, The Transmission is a 3 speed automatic,I stand corrected as the person who notified me in an e-mail that these cars didn't have 2 speeds and he is correct, IT IS IN FACT A 3 SPEED AS SHOWN IN NEWEST PHOTOS (SEE UPDATED PHOTOS) I am not near the car so when I listed it I had to go mainly by memory, and the pictures provided by my brother,As far as I remember the transmission shifted great (Car has not been driven on the road for years) but my brother had his son-in-law drive it from the back yard to the front yard a few days ago and the brakes trans etc. seemed to work good, the fuel line was disconnected at the pump instead of putting gas in the tank and they used a gas can in the engine bay with a hose to run the car and drive it around the yard so the fuel pump is still working. The last time i seen the car was in '09 when we visited Mom and I had the car running then also,I do remember that the interior is pretty shabby and will definitely need redone but all pieces as far as trim, handles etc. are all present and on the car,Nothing has been removed from the car so you will get a complete, unmolested original to restore or drive as is. The car is located at my Mother's house in Delta,Colorado 81416 so this will need to be considered if placing a bid, There is NO shipping on this car so if you are the winning bidder you will have to arrange to pick up the car or have it transported for you. ONLY SERIOUS BIDDERS, If you have ZERO feedback rating do not bid unless you contact me first, NO FOREIGN BIDDERS NO SHIPPING BUT WILL HAVE HELP LOADING THE CAR IF NEEDED. Don't plan on driving this car home as it has set many years and should be trailered and looked over carefully. (THIS IS A PICK UP ONLY ITEM) A $250.00 Non-refundable deposit to pay pal will be required after auction ends and the remainder to be paid in cash on pick up. UPDATED INFORMATION; From: oiqu938 To: mypappyjack Subject: Other: oiqu938 sent a message about Oldsmobile : Eighty-Eight Holiday Hardtop #120980691793 Sent Date: Sep-05-12 22:32:27 PDT Dear mypappyjack, The transmission in your car should be an aluminum case 4 speed Hydramatic "slim jim" as those are called, because of the long, narrow transmission pan as opposed to the heavier 4 speed hydramatic with the cast iron case and a more square transmission pan that the 1957 - 1962 cars had. You car will have 2 low ranges, but because of the transmission design you can only manually shift into 2nd, or "L", on your car. You cannot shift into reverse above 10 mph, as it automatically "locks out". My '58 had this feature. Nice ride you have here. Wouldn't mind owning it myself, as I also had a '64 Dynamic 88 2 door hardtop. Thanks, Eugene W. - oiqu938 Dear oiqu938, I wish I could get under it to find out but unfortunately,I'm 1500 miles away from the car selling it for my Mom and trying to get info on the car from my brother when someone ask,So far you guys here have been helpful in updating information that has helped me get the ad right, The car was a little before my time since I'm only 46 and I'm unfamiliar with these older transmissions, but I knew that the trans indicator looked weird to me the first time I seen it,I was with Dad when he bought the car and had pretty much helped him with all the maintenance throughout the years and I do know one thing, this car was more dependable than any thing else we had at the time,as the ad states, the car still runs and after putting some good tires on it,tuning it up,checking the brakes, doing a good fluid, filter and lube job on it,I wouldn't be afraid to tour the country in it just like it is although the seat would have to have a blanket thrown on them, the mileage is showing 14,000 and to our knowledge that has only been the first turnover of the odometer, Thank you for the updated information on the Transmission and I'll post this on the ad so others can see. Jerry - mypappyjack
