(come look at the floorboards and tailgate areas), AZ restoration vehicle back when I originally purchased it. Now I know this truck is not an off-road only rock crawler but that is not what I wanted to build --this truck was specialty built to be enjoyed both on road and off road and be able to drive it anywhere without the crazy suspension mods or body mods that limit the usability of the vehicle (where you have to trailer the thing) just to have fun -so what you see is the best of both worlds -run down to the local car show and pick up a trophy or just head to the hills and have fun. One of many examples of the quality of craftsmanship is the 12 point full cage (Tig and Mig welded) front to rear connected thru the handmade Polished Aluminum Dash. This gives the ability to completely remove the front end and core support in less than 20 min. as well as easy maintenance or an engine swap. Below is a list of custom fabrication work done to this vehicle- Body Exterior • Body- 100% AZ Rust free Scout (very straight, no dents, dings or bondo). Floorboards, frame, rockers are all very dry and rust free. You can still the factory pinch welds all the way down the rockers. Due to the fact I enjoy the top off and keep it parked in the garage it has never seen a day of rain since I have owned it. • Paint is new- Base coat / Clear coat- Custom mixed Gun Metal Grey / Black with 30% silver flake added-This Scout has been painted 1 time in its life to the color you see now. Pics were taken on sunny day and cloudy day as paint changes color depending on the lighting. This is a beautiful color you have to see in person. • Rear Body Panel & Exhaust Outlet Customized-Rear body tire opening was opened, relieved, and rolled to accept larger tire and to allow for larger tire clearance when 4 wheeling. Custom built exhaust opening fabricated thru body for exhaust clearance when 4 wheeling and to handle a larger cubic inch future engine installation (not to mention it sounds better!) • Removable Top- Top was striped, blasted, cleaned and then sprayed with Rhino Liner inside and out as you can see in pics --this was done to match paint and interior Liner spray. Top is in excellent condition (this is a no rust Az top)-All glass in top is good and slides fine, rear lift door is in excellent condition including glass and hinges. • Custom Body Rail Covers- These were built after cutting my arms one to many times on the raised portion that accepts and aligns the removable top to the body. These were hand made on the mill out of Aluminum stock machined to fit into rail, then aligned with original top mount holes, drilled, then ball milled to match dash then polished. Corners had to be Tig welded at 90 degrees then molded to body design, drilled, capped on ends then milled to match. • Original Doors & Tailgate- As seen in pics they are painted to match and are great condition, they are the original ones that came on truck when I purchased the vehicle-These doors and gate have all hinges mounted and can be bolted on in a matter of minutes if you so choose. I run the truck with the doors and gate we have custom built therefore they are packed away in storage-All glass is good and door operators work perfectly. • Custom Doors & Tailgate-I wanted to create (using original factory equipment) custom metal operational doors and tailgate that no one has so that is what you see on the truck now -I searched until I found -2 perfect, Az rust free, doors and a tailgate that we could modify and build into fully functional opening half doors and tailgate--these doors and gate are one of a kind with hidden shaved door handles in front doors and relocated openers in rear tailgate- To start doors and tailgate were disassembled then plasma cut to my design likeness, next doors and gate were reinforced with an interior tube cage support then roll formed around tube cage and Tig welded. Next re-design and build new interior opener mechanisms so they could be hidden and operated out of the way. This was an enormous amount of work to ensure doors and gate were extremely strong and that they would also shut like normal factory equipment would- and they do! Not only are these doors and gate fully functional and use original factory hinges they are designed to add to the appearance of the Scouts body lines. If you will notice in pics there is also diagonal bracing support for rear of body by tailgate to ensure rear of body does not "open up" due to running truck topless. • Custom Built Lift off Fiberglass Hood-Hand made, one of a kind, all fiberglass reinforced lift-off hood with quick release hood pins--Pull pins, lift hood right off and out of the way. Hood also incorporates Custom built Fiberglass Air Scoop. • Custom Built Front & Rear Bumpers-All steel custom built bumpers with extra diagonal reinforced frame gussets, front and rear hitch welded in, powder coated, all grade nine hardware with HD Tow Rings welded in front and rear. All tig welded. • Custom Rock Sliders-Rock sliders have been specialty weld gusseted and modified. They are mounted directly into original frame as well as cross braced for more strength. All tig welded • Warn XD 9000i Winch-Winch is brand new with built in Fairlead. Winch has never been used (spool has never been unwound) comes with all remote control accessories, line hook and quick plug access. • Custom Grille-Hand made front grill with easy remove fasteners. • Completely Removable Front End- Easy access to engine for any upgrades someone would want in the future. Front end of Scout is completely removable in less than 20 min-this includes the radiator core support, radiator, fenders and fiberglass hood. This is all possible because of the upper round tube cage connection thru the dash forward and firewall gussets that have been fabricated into this truck. All welds are tig welded. Body Interior and Accessories • Custom Fabricated Dash-I have never liked the fact that almost all Scouts I have seen have had bad dashes- so we built our own-This is a handmade, one of a kind, Polished, all Aluminum Dash with specialty thought for extra switches, custom lights, gauges, CD player and so on --dash was machined on a mill and then ball milled for a custom design look-this was also done for the glove box, lower dash panels, and the upper glass surround. To further complicate matters I do not like how roll cages are built into vehicles' without the clearance to access the vehicle easily so we built the cage thru the dash forward then from behind the dash down connecting the cage to the frame in front of your feet thereby creating more access into the vehicle without trouble and knee pain. (I cannot tell you how difficult the was to build- look at pics close, look were cage goes thru machined area in dash, you will never see this anywhere.) Dash was then mounted to new welded in place connection supports so there is no vibration or movement in dash, custom built grab bar for passenger. This was all tig welded. • Dash Gauges, Switches, Electrical-All new "StreetRodder Gauges" with special order white luminous lighted interiors-all lights work including turn signals, markers, headlights etc.(speedo needs to be connected).There are extra switches in dash for further options or applications one may want. All new wiring and fuse box in truck (which is in new location under dash.) • Complete Interior of Body- Tub was striped, blasted, cleaned, and primed then sprayed with Rhino Liner to protect interior. • Specialty Fabricated Battery Area- Because of the design of the quick release front end we had to move the battery to a better location. We built in a recessed battery box into the floor of the scout which is located under the passenger seat and out of the way. This can be easily accessed by moving seat slider forward. Battery is Dry Cell Optima HD Marine Battery with quick disconnect kill switch in lower center of shifter counsel. Removable key Kill Switch-No Theft. • Seats and Belts-Seats are BEARD RACING seats with removable pads and covers (which I have not gotten around to so they look funny green) in the truck- (should have new covers installed in black).The seats have been built into a custom seat support frame then mounted with sliders to accommodate any size driver. This was all tig welded. Seat belt connections where custom built into seat support frame as well as into original belt floor mounts then into roll cage. Seat belts are 5 point harness CROW RACING BELTS and are fully adjustable. • Roof Rack-Garvin Roof Rack with 4 -Blackstar Angel High Lights (front and rear for night exploring). Rack is easily unbolted for installation of top if you desire. • Custom 12 Point Cage Front to Rear-Cage was custom built into truck with top mounted ON! (so that there is no problem to install top and go.) Cage is a 12 point design with round edge 4 bolt base mounts. After cage was custom built in, it was removed, then Powder Coated in a custom one-off coat of silver/grey/black wrinkle finish, baked, then re-sprayed again in clear and baked again . Cage is beautiful!! Another design we implemented in the cage is an easy access, rear heimed, cross brace portion for more strength and accessibility. This portion of the cage is designed to be raised in the event you should want to go camping or if you want it out of the way remove it with quick disconnect pins!! It also converts into a tent support frame when raised horizontal to create an instant tent!! Cage has 4 way tire wrench custom mounted for use of tire removal. Moving forward cage connects thru dash, firewall, and then on to core support. Cage was all Mig and Tig welded. • Custom High-lift Jack Mount- Another pet peeve of mine is jack mounts (always in the way or hard to get to) so we design a custom high-lift mount behind the seats so you can walk up, slide seats forward, then using quick disconnect pull pins disconnect high-lift jack up and out easily-Jack is never in the way and easy to access and remove. This was all tig welded • Custom Gas Can Mounts- Couldn't find any good gas can holders that would allow me to mount them out of the way where I wanted so we built or own. These include locking can locks so no one can steal your gas with extra base supports for emergency rollover problems. All tig welded. • Custom Tool Holder Mounts and Camping Tool Accessory Mounts- Again couldn't find good tool box holders so what's the next best thing? Ammo Boxes!! They have a custom lock system so no one steals you stuff with custom base support mounts so they can't come out! While we are at it you always need a Hatchet and a Shovel when you are out screwing around right!! Quick disconnect tools also-All tig welded. • Custom Tire Mount-Ever get tired of you spare in the way or its just plain ugly mounted on your rig out in the air somewhere? I have, so, we built a custom quick disconnect tire mount in the rear of the truck that allows you to remove the mount with the tire on for camping or just remove tire if you have a flat --I removed tire from mount so you can see how it disconnects (in case any of you guys are copying our ideas). This mount has a spun aluminum support built on the lathe for appearance, lock ability and easy removability. All tig welded. • Custom Fabricated Gas Tank-Purchased newer fuel tank that would allow us to weld into top of tank a dual access filler application for ease of fuel delivery at the pump-has specialty ball milled, tig welded, Aluminum filler door with built in lock. Fuel can be pumped in this location on floor or in original body location on driver side body panel. Chassis & Suspension • 4" Skyjacker spring kit with U-Bolts & Bushings • Anything Scout 2" body lift kit • Rancho RS5000 series Shocks • Cpt HD Shackle Kit • Skyjacker pitman Arm / Steering Stabilizer • Steering column rebuilt/ new solid Borginson D Rod install to accommodate body lift and for better steering and handling Drive train & Components • Drive train-As mentioned before all drive train (less engine) was completely gone thru when I originally purchased this scout - this includes all liquids, oils, seals, etc. Just so you know I would drive this truck anywhere. • 304 V8 original engine- Mileage I would guess at around 113,000 as it had 107,000 when I bought it- Engine starts every time, runs like a sewing machine, no weird noises nor does the engine smoke running down road (rings are still good). • Custom Exhaust and Mufflers-that are built along frame exiting out body in front of rear tires • Automatic 747 Transmission- Shifts fine with new B&M Star Shifter and valve body filter • Front and Rear Dana 44s -with 4.10 gears • Warn Manual Premium Selectable Hubs • Power Disc Front Brakes • Power steering-All new Solid D-rod installed for better hands on steering • 35X12 BFG All Terrain Radial T/A's- + Spare all in good condition- Lots of tread • Steel chromed American Wheels So there you have it- There is much more that could be listed here however I felt these would be the "high-points" and most interesting to a perspective buyer.
