Purchased new in Frankfurt, Germany it was first registered on January 29, 1951 with License No. R-121-129. It was eventually put into storage in the 1980s. In 1994 it was shipped to the United States where it remained in storage for an additional 18 years. The bike was so well preserved that it took very little effort to have it running beautifully! The YouTube video shows the Miele coming to life for the first time in more than 2 decades! Frame number: 973042Engine number: 1128223This is a very original, matching numbers machine that features a 2-speed manual transmission, 26 inch wheels, working headlight, it's original tool kit, air pump, tank filler screen, and original title from 1951! It was common for a motorcycle's tools to go missing while parked on city side streets in Germany, so it is very unusual to find a motorcycle from that era with it's tool kit intact! You can completely disassemble the machine with it's supplied tools!The bike is not a restored show piece, yet it oozes just the right patina!For you history buffs..... Miele had been producing motorcycles as far back as the 1930s. After WWII, the allies kept control of the factory until 1948. In 1949, production of motorcycles resumed. The Sachs 98 engine remained largely unchanged from the early 1930s through 1949. In 1950, the Miele K21 received an updated Sachs 98 engine which was produced for one year! Vintage bikes are becoming VERY collectible and are fun to ride, tinker with, and restore.
