Vehicle Detail

On July 25th, 2012, this car was appraised by Auto Evaluators in St. Louis, MO (you may contact to verify) at $12,700, in Class 2 Show Condition. Less than a mile after driving the car away from Auto Evaluators, an elderly woman bumped into the front side of this car! This was a low impact collision (I was at a dead stop and she was going about 10-15mph) and has not affected the car's mechanical running in any way. However, the insurance estimate is that it is going to cost approximately $1200 to fix the cosmetic damage. As I have just recently put $3000 dollars into it to make it mechanically run great, I no longer have the desire to spend even more money on it for cosmetic purposes as I have recently purchased a house that needs the money more...and the fight with the lady's insurance company has really soured me. My loss is your gain, I guess, as you have the opportunity to have a sweet little car for a good deal. It's an even better deal if you are or know an auto body worker. NOTE: The nose, bumper, blinker and glass lens were NOT damaged. Both the appraisal, work receipts and insurance repair estimate are available, and Mark at Auto Evaluators is available to discuss the car as well. Here's the info: 55xxx original miles. Empi wheels, Pioneer AM/FM radio and CD player This car runs and looks great, with the exception of the damage shown in pictures below. It has a fold-down back seat which is not commonly seen in Ghias. The car has never been left out in the elements...always garaged. Both seats were reupholstered in 2003, and new seat belts added, along with a variety of work available for your review. The most recent work done just months ago at Auto Evaluators in Webster Groves, by their VW specialist ($2,700 worth of work): Replaced lower ball joints Repair front axle beam Installed new spring plate Replaced carburator Replaced fuel tank and hose Adjusted valves Replaced ignition wires Replaced adjust points Set timing Replaced rear air shocks 4 wheel alignment Also, car has a new fuel pump and filter, new fuses and a brand new battery. Aside from the minor damage done from the accident, there are a few normal wear and tear issues with it: There are a couple of small tears in the convertible hood (not very noticeable, and I will provide pictures shortly). There are a few small dings and scratches in the paint...again, not very noticable and pictures will be provided shortly. The inside of the convertible top is dingy from age, again, any imperfections will be photographed. The top is not 100% water tight, but as it is always garaged, that has not been an issue. This car is a 1971 vehicle, but looks good for her age! Mechanically, the car is sound and a lot of fun to drive. Please feel free to ask any questions. Many extras included if requested: Such as 6 books on repair, service and trouble shooting of the '71 Ghia, as well as the original owner's manual and paper work. I may even be able to find a car cover if you like. SHIPPING: If this car is to be shipped, it is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will, of course, do everything I can to make the process go smoothly, but all related costs and contacts are the responsibility of the seller. On Oct-05-12 at 06:10:30 PDT, seller added the following information: There was a type-o in the last sentence.: It should read...all related costs and contacts of shipping the car are the responsibility of the buyer, as it states elsewhere in the description and shipping details page. Thank you.
