Vehicle Detail

You're bidding on a surefire way to make any commute more fun. Drive a near exotic sports car with daily driver reliability at 1/4 the price of the original sticker. You'll find yourself driving with the top down and radio off so you can hear every note coming from the 300-hp flat six engine pushing you down the road. Firm (but not too firm) suspension allows you to take every corner without hitting the brakes and with almost no body lean. Short throw shifter makes moving through the gears quick and precise. For the winter months, put the top down and attach the aluminum hardtop to keep the chill out. The hardtop has a rear defroster and effectively stiffens up the ride so cornering is even more solid when it's on. The interior features silver gauge faces set against the black leather interior. All seats are in top condition as is the leather covered dash and door inserts. The harmon/kardon sound system features speed sensitive volume control and navteq navigation. (although the Nav CDs are outdated) Automatic climate control keeps the interior comfortable when driving top down in summer or cool fall days. The tires are new within the last 18 months and new exhaust with in the last year. Just had its 75000 mile service completed. All service done since I've owned it has been done by European Performance, a specialist mechanic here in the Triangle. Now for the less sexy bits. I am the owner of a 12-year old car. I've had it for 3 years and change. It has the signs of normal exterior wear and tear. There is a small ding near the front driver's side fender and a few scratches here and there. I drive it every day so it does have some small pits on the nose from road grit hitting it at highway speeds. The windshield has some pits for the same reason (it rides very low so if debris is any more than a foot off the pavement it will find you). The plastic rear window does drip at the bottom seam in a down pour so I only recommend hand washing the car versus a high pressure automatic car wash. The wheels have some clear coat chips and minor curb rash. The driver side visor is missing its mirror cover. And the climate control screen has some dead pixels. (I have a rebuild kit for the screen I can include in the sale). The car was involved in a "moderate" accident. Carfax's words, not mine. The car was parked in a fast food lot when hit by a knucklehead driver who took the fast part too literally. When he realized what he hit, he took off. But the police found him and he paid up. The damage was to the rear bumper valence and the passenger side muffler (which is why the whole exhaust is new). When it was repaired, the body shop repainted everything from the tonneau cover down and from the rear door sills back. Mechanically, there was no damage. I love this car. I hate to sell it, but I need to get something that can carry more than one youth hockey player at a time with their equipment. Of course, whatever replaces it will still have to be fun to drive. I can't give that up. If you buy it, be sure to join the Porsche Club of America. Great people and a great resource for parts discounts and maintenance tips. Not to mention fun driving events you can enjoy. I also have a few things the winning bidder can have for free upon request:- A copy of 996 The Essential Companion (Great vehicle history and DIY resource)- Spare trim and interior parts - K&N cold air intake system - Rebuild kit for the missing pixels on the climate control screen The reserve price has been lowered and the car is for sale locally. The auction may end early if the car sells to a local buyer.
