Vehicle Detail
Selling my restored 71 Super Resto. Mod. I have owned for the past 6+ years. Purchased from the second owner in San Diego. The car resided in California till 2010. 3 years ago I had a vision to install a 2.5L SOHC engine from a Subaru. This conversion has been done before but I never liked the cooling system executions. My vision was to conceal the cooling system by using the same configuration as the Porsche 996 and Boxter models. I used 3 radiators one in each fender and one in the grill below the front bumper utilizing the factory louvers on the Super Beetle. The result is no intrusions into the luggage compartment except for the coolant bottle. This conversion has logged 15,000 miles w/o any issues. There is so much that has gone into this car I think its best to just list by vehicle groups and if you are interested you can contact me for additional information. Engine:2002 Subaru Forester 2.5L 165HP engine with 79K miles. Completely disassembled to short block. All new factory seals and gaskets, timing belt, H2O pump. Engine retains factory fuel injection and emissions with OBD2 data link. Custom fabricated stainless header with dual Magnaflow stainless mufflers. I wanted quiet and stealth. Mated to VW transaxle with Kennedy adaptor plate, stage 1 clutch and gear reduction starter. Transmission:Rancho Performance Pro Street with Freeway Flyer configuration. 3:88 final drive with Quafe limited slip. NOS Lobro CV joints. Brakes:4 wheel Disc Brakes with Varga calipers. Large bore Master cylinder. Cooling:2 Motorcycle radiators installed in fenders with custom shrouding and pull type electric fans. Porsche 996/Boxter center radiator with 2 electric fans. Electronic variable fan speed controller on main radiators with 2nd stage fans on center radiator controlled by FI ECU. Self bleeding system closed system. Small heater installed behind rear seat provides heat in the winter. Steering and Suspension:Urethane bushings in front. Front and rear stabilizer bars, upper strut brace, brass idler bushing, new struts, shocks. Sport springs in the front. Wheels:1971 Porsche forged Fuchs Heart wheels. 4.5" front and deep 6" on the rear. New Bridgestone RE960 tires approx. 6K ago. This set up cost $2500 Body:Complete tear down in 2006 all new seals, and gaskets. Just installed new windshield and chrome. Used NOS or German where available. NOS vent windows. Painted Tangerene Orange (2006 Honda Element color) Interior:Reupholstered with new door panels. Retractable seat belts. Momo steering wheel, VDO night vision gauges and MSD Tach. Electronic Speedo. New dash pad. Lighting:LED brake lights, Hella H4 headlight assemblies with HID Bi-Xenon 6000K bulbs. There you have it. As you can see I am a Master Technician and have been doing this for over 20 years. The only reason for selling is I am moving to a remote part of the country and can't see driving this on gravel roads. This car is quick with 0-60 times in the 6.5 second range and gearing for over 120MPH. Feels real solid at highway speeds and returns 30-32MPG in the summer. Its not a trailer queen but a daily driver. I have owned several 911's over the years and by far this is the most fun and people will give you more thumbs-up than a Ferrari or a Porsche. I hope it goes to someone who will keep it looking nice and drive it.Will provide and schedule shipping to selling party anywhere within the lower 48 states!!! Or up to $1000 assistance if outside the lower 49 states. Shipping will be provided by open truck transport after receiving payment. I reserve the right to final selection of shipping carrier.
