Vehicle Detail
1990 Ford F-250 4x4 with matching 3-Horse Trailer This horse hauling rig was purchased as a matched pair when new in 1990 and have always been together. The truck has only 61,000 miles on it (odometer hasn’t rolled over) and the trailer surely has significantly less than that. Clear titles for both. This is a clean 2-owner rig for maybe an entry level enthusiast getting into horses, or someone who wants to use it to make money hauling for others. The pair have a lot of life left in them, and the custom ordered trailer has a lot of versatility, as you’ll read below. Mechanical As stated above, the truck only has 61,000 miles on it. It passed a recent PA state inspection and is ready to roll. The brakes are serviced all around, with new “loaded” calipers on the front and new rotors. Exhaust from the cat-back is also new. Tires are matching Michelin LTX’s all around. They are used, but have some life left in them. The A/C is recently serviced and blows ice cold! Engine is the big fuel injected 460 and runs great -- transmission (with overdrive) shifts up-and-down just like it should. Don’t scoff at the gas engine. It moves this big trailer surprisingly well without the maintenance expenses of a diesel. Paint and Body The paint on both the truck and trailer are very presentable. Both are their original paint jobs, are nice and straight, and have never been wrecked. There is very light oxidation that would come off with a good buffing and some areas of minor paint touch-up, as you’d expect with a rig of this age, in addition to typical nicks, scratches, and minor dents. The trailer has some minor streaking from some of the attached hardware rusting that will likely compound away, and there’s some spots on the back doors that could stand to be blasted and touched-up. The truck has two rust holes, both in the back lower quarters of the bed sides where they all rust out. (photos below). That’s really about it in the rust department, and since it’s still on its original paint job, you’re assured there isn’t any old patchwork lurking underneath. The bed floor and tailgate are both nice and solid. Photos of the underside of the rockers, floors, and wheel wells are included below. The spare tire and hanger are included, but not attached to the underside of the bed, having been previously removed and not reinstalled. It looks like the hanger might have suffered a slight whack. Trailer The trailer is interesting. It was manufactured by Competitive Trailers, Inc., in Bellflower, CA. I’m told it is actually considered a 4-horse trailer in overall size, but was special ordered with the front stall deleted and a larger front room put in its place. It’s sizable with an area over the gooseneck to put a mattress if you want to bunk. It makes for a good changing room, storage, or whatever you’d like. In the rear is a 3-saddle rack that swings out of its own compartment. The tongue jack is a hydraulic cylinder driven by an electric pump – no cranking! The wood deck is solid throughout, and it’s pretty evident that the trailer was little-used. The inspection on the trailer isn’t current and it might have some minor gremlins like taillight grounds that need cleaning, etc. Interior The interior is gray cloth and carpet in the Lariat trim level. No rips, no tears, no holes. It’s just a very clean serviceable interior, as you can see from the photos. The power windows work, but the locks do not. Summary For someone who wants first class hauling capability at a fraction of the cost of new, this is a smoking deal! It’s not often you find a rig like this that isn’t high mileage and hasn’t suffered abuse. This is a No Reserve auction – bid like you want to own it! Serious buyers can make arrangements to see the rig in person and take it for a test drive. In fact, you’re encouraged to. Nothing beats an in-person inspection. If you have feedback lower than 5, please call me first. I reserve the right to cancel the bids of anyone with low-to-no feedback, or suspicious activity, to preserve the integrity of the auction. Any and all questions are welcome. Please provide adequate time prior to the auctions end for an answer. If you wish to call, please do so between 8:30 to 5:30, Monday to Friday: 610-268-2244 On nights or weekends, leave a message and I will get back to you.
