I listed this trooer before but I think I wasn't clear on the condition. I said the trans was making noise in all gears except 4th. The noise is NOT grinding or metal against medal sounding. It's more of a vibration sound off and on.. Any way this Trooper can be driven down the road; straight and smooth and if your in fourth gear, no noise in the tranny.It starts right up every time quickly. I use it at least once a week in 4wd low range to pull anything from logs to a GMC Suburban. I put a 1991 Trooper Disc brake rear end in it so it is now 4 wheel disc. When I changed the rear end I put new air shocks. I have cut new back interior panels out of 1/4 ply (not Masonite) ready to be upholstered or stained. Very little rust anywhere. Was setup to run vegi-oil but I removed the tank in the backseat area and replaced the back seat but the pumps and fuel heater are still under the hoodNew Wal-mart battery, Very good tires, stock rims. For towing I had a 2' receiver welded to rear frame.Diamond plate aluminum on lower rockers except front fenders. I have the plate but haven't cut it out yet. Any questions? One of the people looking at the Trooper emailed me this: "Just fyi the problem in the tranny is the main shaft bearing is wearing. 4th gear is on a different shaft thus no noise. Not the biggest or most exoensive fix. Nice car, wish I was closer." Jim - harleysharley01. I posted all rust spots I could find. The passeger rear is the only one I thing will have rusted through if it's picked at. The luggage rack is off but I have it. The surface rust on th front apron is not as bad as it looks. I put Ospho on it to stop the rust (needs another coat)I have a gas tank from a 1984 trooper which had the tank to th right of the drive shaft and forward of the axel as well as the filler door if you want to complete the project. Also, I put expanding foam in the lower doors and quarter panels so you can hit it with a hammer (or a branch) and it stays solid Oh, I just poked a hole in the headliner with the extra diamond plate...here's a picture.8~{
