Beck 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder Project Car **Tons of extra parts** Early Beck Porsche 550 Spyder, project car, currently not running – needs distributer installed, interior finished (carpets and new seats included see photos and description below). Originally built in 1987, always garaged, always covered, has been off the road and garaged for past 4 years. Appraised in 2005 for over $28,000 before dash board upgrades, petri banjo steering wheel, speedster seats, and new wool square weave carpet. 7,600 miles on frame, under 2,000 on current engine. Professionally built 2165 ( 94 x 78 )Type 1 engine, Raby Aircooled Technology, built for low end torque engine was dyno tested with 128 ft-lb torque at 3,500 and 100 hp at 4,500, dual 45 mm Dellorto w CB performance hex bar linkage. See build sheet specs in photos. Currently not running, needs distributer installed, has not been run in 4 years, engine turns smoothly by hand. Brand new Davis Unified Ignition distributor included as well as Bosch 050 distributer. ( see http://www.performancedistributors.com/vwdui.htm ) The earlier Beck Spyders have a beefier tubular steel frame with additional cross members for mounting the seats – rigid, rock solid frame, no body flex. The silver metallic paint is nearly perfect, only a couple of very small chips / scratches. Front and rear disc brakes, Dunlop tires with lots of tread life left, 4 lug rims, chrome half moon hub caps Exceptionally accurate dash board: gauges are original 356, Porsche knobs and switches, ivory reproduction knobs, ( one controls the windshield wipers, the other controls the electric fuel pump), Porsche chrome bezels for all switches, original 356 head light switch / dash light dimmer, custom fitted hammered aluminum dash insert. Turn signal switch is a NOS 50-52 VW part, signal cancel ring fully functional. Petri Banjo steering wheel is a very high quality reproduction ( see http://www.vw-online.co.uk/acatalog/Karmann_Konnection_Steering_Wheels_and_Horn_Buttons__5.html ), 356 reproduction horn button . NOS Bosch script logo headlamp covers, perfect condition – no chips or haze whatsoever, never on the road.
