Vehicle Detail
HERE IS ANOTHER CAR FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION. THIS ONE IS A 1968 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 427 L-36 BIG BLOCK CONVERTIBLE 4 SPEED in RALLY RED. Please e-mail me with any and all questions or to set up an inspection to see the car in person. Many more additional pictures available at this link: http://www.webeautos.com/detail-1968-chevrolet-corvette-for_sale-used-8367178.html Vehicle came out of Ohio, and I got it in the late 1980s. Recently it has been professionally repainted in Rally Red. I put the correct rally wheels with meaty white letter radials on them. I also had the seats reupholstered partially by professionally shop and done some minor mechanical upgrades and suspension work and engine detailing and have enjoyed it on a sunday afternoon every once in a while during the last couple of years. OPTIONS: Manual Steering Manual DISC brakes Manual windows Rally wheels 4 speed Muncie transmission L-36 427ci/390hp motor Air conditioning (all parts under hood removed) Mechanically it sounds great along with the throaty exhaust system. Transmission is solid and has a good heavy clutch and shifts good although the shifter is a little stiff and takes some getting used to especially from 2nd to 3rd. Now as for driving the car, i've taken it out mostly around the neighborhood here and there for a few functions, every once in a while I take it to a local cruise night. Idles nicely without being obnoxious. Never overheated on me. You can cruise with it on the highway, but I would go through it before taking it out on any long trips. Interior is presentable for a driver. Seats were reupholstered partially and look great. Door panels should be replaced. Dash pad has some cracks. Steering wheel presentable (horn cap needs to be mounted). Carpet is older but presentable for now. Convertible top is presentable the way it is with some rips down the sides where it folds, but should be redone (I will throw in a NEW convertible top canvas to winning bidder) Motor is a non matching 454ci big block with approx. 350hp, mildly built with mild performance camshaft, 0.030 block overbore, HEI ignition, full headers into dual exhaust and the like. Sounds excellent and does NOT smoke or show any signs of major wear from what i've noticed owning it for years. Underside is pretty clean throughout with SOLID frame, SOLID birdcage and SOLID pillars, just some scaly surface rust throughout that can easily be cleaned (I just never got around to it yet). The old girl is NOT perfect by any means of course so please keep that in mind when bidding. Paint is in good shape and cleans up well but has some imperfections here and there since it was NOT a $20k show quality paintjob. No radio. Some gauges and minor electrical need checking over (speedo needs new cable, tach not connected, headlights and wiper compartment cover need new vacuum lines to work, horn not working). Windshield has a crack down the lower middle (does NOT affect visibility). Shifter is stiff and should be checked. So overall she is not perfect and will need some form of TLC depending on how nice you want it to be and what you plan to do with the car. PLEASE REMEMBER THERE WILL BE OTHER MINOR ISSUES WITH THE CAR THAT I CANNOT REMEMBER OR LIST HERE FOR YOU. If you just want a GOOD LOOKING DRIVER needing tlc, this is the car for you. If you want a show car, it will need some considerable investment and possibly total restoration to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO.
