For Sale: 1995 BMW 540i M-sport I have decided to sell my M-sport due to a change in direction with my life. I have not had it long (approx. 8 months) and I did not intend on selling it but here it is! For those of you who do not know what a M-sport is, they were a special edition 540i of which only 200 were built for the US. These cars were optioned just like a M5 except they had the 4.0 V8. Of the 200 only 65 came with the automatic. So this is a very rare car. In late 1995, just prior to switching to the E39 5-series body style for the 1997 model year (there is no such thing as a U.S. 1996 model year 5-series), BMW pumped one last breath of life into the V8 powered, E34-bodied, 540i for the U.S. market: The 1995 540i Sport . They did this by using almost all of the parts that went into the European 1995 6-cylinder E34 ///M5, except the engine and transmission. 200 of these 540i Sport models were sold in the U.S. 135 of them had the 6-speed manual transmission and the rest (65) had the automatic. (Kindel.com) The car is currently in Columbia SC. About the car: *Color= Cosmo *Automatic 5spd (only 65 made) *150000ish miles (driven daily) The interior on this car is in overall good shape. There is one hole from every day wear on the driver’s side front seat but otherwise the leather is in really good shape. There are absolutely no cracks in the dash. The carpet is stain free. There is one crack in the wood trim on the passenger side front door panel. The headliner is in great shape. The good: *Rust free, I have had this on the rack twice with myself and two different mechanics checking the underside for signs of abuse and rust. *This car had the engine block changed to the Alumisil with supporting documentation. *Maintenance records through 2008. The previous owner bought this car in 2008 and he wasn’t a car guy but took care of the oil changes and basic maintenance. *Water Pump, thermostat, Metal thermostat housing, hoses, belts, and cooling fan were replaced in late February 2012. The car did not over heat, there was some play in the pump shaft and the fan broke a fin so it all got replaced. *Oil change with full synthetic Mobil 1 *The interior is in good shape for the age *The exterior only has a couple of dings *This car is all original other than the radio *EDC suspension system *Factory Shadow line trim *Factory rear badge delete *M5 trunk filler panel *Authentic BMW Motorsport front door handles *Heated seats *Black leather interior *brakes are like new *Cooper Zeon Sport A/S tires are at 50% *Sport transmission shifts great *A/C will freeze you out of the car *4.0liter engine pulls like a freight train!! *This car is extremely fast and handles like it is on rails all while the passengers are surrounded by high end luxury even at today’s standards. The Not so Good: *The paint/clear coat on the roof and trunk lid has oxidized. *Front bumper has had damage repaired on the front left lower corner. Repair was done in Fiberglass and should hold for a very long time. The repaired area was painted with matching paint but with little prep work, since the area is subject to road rash and this is a daily driver. *The Throwing star wheels could use some new paint on the lips but the centers are in great shape. The lips have very very little rash. *There is a little twist in the drivers side seat bottom when you try to adjust the height of the seat to the highest position. Otherwise you would never encounter the twist. *Drivers side front door stop has broken and I removed it from the door. I have a Koala Motorsport repair/ reinforcement plate that will come with the car. I just never got around to installing it. When the plate is installed the door will be fixed and better than new. *The left rear upper shock mount is squeaking The Great: I would trust this car to take me anywhere at any time!
