1997 Isuzu Trooper S 4X4 5-Speed Ok Trooper Enthusiasts!! I know there are only a few of us out here but I consider us kindred spirits. So, hello friends! I think that the Trooper (the very last year of the 2nd and best generation) is one of the most underrated overlooked vehicles ever made. I also think that their only Achilles Heel is the loathsome automatic transmission that most of them have. If you agree, please continue reading. On eBay today for your consideration is a fantastic and rare vehicle. A 1 owner 1997 3.2 SOHC engine, 5-Speed 4X4 Isuzu Trooper S. This Trooper also has Part-Time 4WD w/Shift-On-The-Fly. Me, being a true lover of the goofy Trooper also know of the notorious ticking and clattering of the valves that tend to make the newbie Isuzu owner crazy. Not this one folks. This Trooper is clatter free because its one and only owner knew what I do… The hydraulic valves inside the engine love synthetic oils and are silent when treated with this care. The Isuzu Guru I spoke with tells me that the stock oil pumps just don’t quite have enough power for 10w30 oil and using oil off the cheap shelf can cause the engine to have lifter noise. These motors are known for amazing feats through the Australian Outback and are Marathon Champions in the Dakar Rally! They can routinely go hundreds of thousands of miles if treated to proper care. If this Trooper was the automatic then I would have never even looked twice at it. Even as nice as this one is, I would not have given it a second thought. The automatic is a total buzz kill for me in the Trooper. This SUV is the Holy Grail of Troopers! Yes, I said it. It is not just the 5-Speed transmission that makes me so excited about this Trooper, it is the condition. This Trooper is gorgeous. It is as clean as any of us could ever keep a car… For 1 year, let alone 16 years. The original owner of this car wanted to have a lasting affair with this vehicle so he kept the original MSRP window sticker and what I believe to be every service record since. I have all the books and a complete service manual as well. Yes, the car has been serviced well and cared for properly.. It has also never been crashed or painted on ever. Everything works including all the windows and door locks and original stereo. The A/C blows ice cold. The 4X4 system, including the hubs and transfer case, work flawlessly. There is not a speck of rust anywhere on the vehicle. The Trooper has never been smoked in. There is no pet odors.. Do I need to continue?? Because I can.. I could write about this Trooper and its merits all day. A person just can’t make a fair Trooper this nice. It can’t be done. It has to be cared for with pride every day and garaged every night to be this nice. If you want to know more just call me. I can describe this vehicle down to the last carpet fiber if you want me to. Just know that you won’t find one better. Plenty cheaper, none better. Sure there are a very few stone ships and scuffs on the fender flairs, but nothing I would even fix or be put off by in the slightest.
