Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 74 Datsun 260Z that has a Ford 302 V8 powering it and a long list of performance parts. I spent about a year modifying and restoring this car to this great condition. I chose to go with the ford 302 since the weight is less than other V8’s and since the distributor is in the front of the engine it can be mounted closer to the firewall and maintain proper weight distribution. The V8 conversion was done right with a fully custom frame and specifically picked components to keep the weight down and maintain the great handling characteristics that the early Z cars were known for. The restoration and modifications were completed 3 years ago so the whole car is well sorted out. Since the restoration I’ve put about 5000 miles on it during the summer months. I only used high quality new or rebuilt parts. This is was not a junkyard parts bin project. This is a great car and you will not be disappointed. It’s just time for me to move on to my next project. Chassis · Custom fabricated box tube frame to handle the additional torque of the V8. Engine bay frame rails are reinforced then welded to the box tube frame that runs along the same path as the original uni-body box rails. The new frame continues back to the rear differential cross member uni-body structure. This frame was done right compared to many other v8 conversions. · Adjustable coil over kit with 225 lb springs on each corner. Allows you to dial in your ride height based on your local road conditions · Adjustable Camber kit on front and rear strut towers · Full underbody stripped of all the old undercoating then painted with Eastwood Rust inhibitor paint · All suspension members coated with Eastwood chassis black · New stainless steel brake lines throughout · Wilwood rear disk brake upgrade – no provisions for emergency/parking brake · Front brake calipers upgraded to the Toyota 4 piston calipers for added stopping power · Dynomat-style sound deadening matting installed throughout full interior · Front brake electric line-lock installed – notice the red switch to the front of the shifter. Body · Full rotisserie restoration done on the car 3 years ago after the new frame was fabricated and installed. The car was very clean compared to some of my earlier Z projects. · The paint is in very good shape, as it should be for only being 3 yrs old. There is one chip on the front fender near the hood when a wrench slipped. There is also 1 bubble on the rear passenger side quarter panel about the size of a dime. · 16” Panasport wheels and tires still have plenty of rubber left on them · New Stainless steel front and rear bumpers. These are reproduction bumpers done in the style of the late 240-early 260z bumpers so they still fit pretty close to the body but not as close as the early 240z bumpers · New weather seals through most of the car but the driver side door seal should be replaced · BRE style rear spoiler · Dash is in great shape with no cracks. It was replaced a couple years prior to my restoration. · New carpet throughout the car. I left the old rear deck carpet under the new one for additional sound deadening. Drive train · Ford 302 – All new or rebuilt parts went in to building this engine specifically for this car. Less than 5000 miles. o Aluminum Edelbrock Heads o Edelbrock performer rpm air gap intake o Comp Cam camshaft and roller rockers o Holley 670 street avenger carb o Pertronix Flame-Thrower distributor and coil o Newly rebuilt mustang short block o Chrome 1-wire alternator o Polished Aluminum high rise valve covers o Aluminum radiator with electric fan and adjustable temperature relay. The car has never overheated even during hot summer days in stop and go traffic o Serpentine belt system o AC compressor is mounted but needs to be plumbed and wired · Ford Cobra Spec T5 5-speed transmission. The cobra spec transmission is rated for higher torque than the typical T5. Newly rebuilt prior to installation. o Ram Performance Clutch o Short throw shifter o Ram center mount hydraulic release bearing · R200 Limited slip differential out of a ZX turbo with 3.90 gears. Notice the finned rear cover on the diff. o CV half-shaft upgrade Misc items · The car comes with a factory service manual and a pile of documentation from my restoration and the previous restoration. · The car also includes a box of extra small parts ranging from emblems to small interior pieces. Most of them are NOS parts still in their original bag or box · I’m throwing in the basic car cover that I’ve used for the last couple years. · As mentioned above the rear wilwood disk brakes do not have provisions for parking brakes so based on your state and how you register the car, you might need to change out the calipers to ones that have the parking brake lever · The speedometer cable needs to be adapted at one end to mate up with the T5 transmission. There is currently a temporary plug in the transmission so you don’t lose any fluid. · The flasher/hazard light relay needs to be replaced. $23.00 from z car source. · The inner fender plastic needs to be put back in place. I have owned several Z cars and this is the first one that actually had these parts still with it. · The clock does not work and the fuel gauge reads half of a tank when it’s full but it does read empty when it’s actually empty. · To finish off the bumpers keep your eye out for the factory rubber spaces that go between the bumper and the sides of the car. They are hard to find and are not reproduced for this year car. The buyer is responsible for arranging shipping or pickup of the car. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hrs of the closing of the auction and the remainder is due within 7 days. The full payment must be received prior to the car leaving my garage. This car is being sold as is.
