Vehicle Detail
I have owned this bike for over 30 years. I bought the bike, from a guy who spent over $900 on the engine and couldn't afford to keep it. Most of the time it was in boxes in my garage, 4 years ago with my work slowing down, I decided to put it all back together. The motor has been completely redone. New pistons, valves, guides, big end bearings, etc. I put a 20 final drive sprocket on. The carbs have been reworked with steel slides by Mike Gaylord and probably account for the amazingly slow and reliable idle. It still has the points ignition. It starts from cold first time. The pictures were taken after a 30 mile run last week and it's as oil-tight as it looks. Most of the nuts and bolts have been nickel plated. The paint has a clear-coat, so the decals are there to stay. I chose the Avons because I thought they looked good, who would have thought they would grip and handle so well. The thing about this bike is almost everything is the original parts, even the wheels, which are showing their age a little. Look at the wheel pictures and if you look really closely some pitting is there, not bad but it's not perfect. All the cables are teflon lined and the tank has been coated with Caswell's epoxy sealer. The speedo is dead accurate at 50MPH but the trip wont reset. The previous owner had the engine covers chrome plated, not something I would have done, and the chrome on the timing and gearbox didn't make it. They have been repolished. The primary transmission cover and the cam boxes are still chrome and don't look bad. I believe the milage to be correct, as I bought it with 3,500. Tach is good up to about 3,000 then seems to get lazy. I used to work in a British bike shop. So why sell it? I have 3 650 Triumphs including another 1969 Bonny which needs restoration. The one for sell is by far the nicest and with the money I shall restore the other bike. The picture of the tank came out a bit too orange, but the other pictures are pretty accurate as regards color. I hope I have covered all the bases, but please call 850 668 7931, with any other questions. I'm retired so if I'm not riding or working on my other bikes I'll be home. I would consider delivery within 400 miles for gas money. This is a very nice bike to ride!
